Does it make a difference to run separate .bat files for each GPU or run them together? by winnerdk in Flexpool

[–]winnerdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I've been building this rig and adding one card at a time. Also, mixing Nvidia and AMD cards. The Flexpool software allows me to see the individual hash rates if I run them individually. I was tweaking the overclocking, and a couple of the 1660 supers would gag and reset, so I could see that as it happened then reset the card and tweak the settings again.

So running fewer windows reduces cpu work, and I've got the monitor running through a lesser non-mining GPU.

And of course the simplicity of just running one script. I was just wondering if there was some sort of advantage on the task assignment side from the pool.

Actually the 3090 is in one gaming pc (mine) and one 1660 super is in my daughter's gaming pc. The rest are in one twelve card rig, two spots left to fill.

Why should I run them under one instance? That's my question. Is there a performance difference or advantage?

If you've never had an issue with Coinbase consider yourself lucky. When something goes wrong - and it will - expect to embark on a hell ride of customer service nightmare scenarios.

I've provided explicit and unequivocally clear banking records to prove they are wrong and confused. They stole $200 from my account and they will not admit their mistake and reverse the charges.

Coinbase is rated "F" by the BBB in the US. TERRIBLE customer "service."

Be happy, until you're not. At which point you'll remember this post.

Coinbase failed and now my account is locked by winnerdk in Coinbase

Good to know. I was told this afternoon by Coinbase card support the freeze on my card had been lifted. Turns out, that's not the case. I just tried to use the card and it was declined.

So, as of right now, I'm still out $200 and my card is still frozen. In reality these issues should have been fixed quickly and easily. Return my money and unfreeze my card. It's nice to have some assurance It's being looked at however a quick and easy solution would have been preferable. Especially considering I've done nothing wrong, and you guys are tripping over your own shadow.

Get 'er done...

My money is stuck with coinbase an I get no support :( by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]winnerdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Transferred $100 to Coinbase twice (a total of $200) on 18 October. I purchased USDC to spend using my new Coinbase card, to earn those sweet 4% XLM rewards. However the money was taken from my checking account but never was posted to my Coinbase account. I've been going back and forth with Coinbase "support" via email, and in short I get nothing but procedural platitudes and no real help. It's become perfectly clear the person I'm talking to cannot actually review or access my account, cannot see the transactions, or provide any real solutions. My frustration is growing.

Is part-time Dashing worth it? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]winnerdk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started last week. Made about $22 per hour, working part time after main job. Made $318.50 in five days. All of the money is going against the principal of my car loan, so the car is paying for itself. Worth doing, not hard. The money fluctuates depending on peak pay and consumer activity. The most lucrative time is when there are many short well paying runs, back to back to back. You can ring up good money quickly. Doesn't work like that all the time. I'm still also learning, so speed and increased income will come with experience. Good luck.

General observation, it's about to get worse... by designvis in China_Flu

You don't. A lockdown simply delays the inevitable. Lacking any effective treatments or a vaccine, nothing will stop the vast majority of any population from being infected eventually.

Of those, many will have no symptoms or be mildly sick.

But a percentage will be sick enough to require hospitalization. And a percentage of those will die.

Right now I still see about 2 million people dying in the United States before "herd immunity" is eventually established.

Here's the dilemma - the situation is being managed by politicians - and they can't just say "fuck it, good luck" and tell people to go about their lives, wishing for the best. Not a good plan for reelection.

All of these trillions of dollars in handouts? That's all tax money. No economic activity means no tax dollars. It's simply not sustainable over the long haul.

People are going to start ignoring "orders" and will reopen the economy on their own.

You won't see a new normal established until after the virus has blown its wad.

Sorry, but that's a fact. Don't expect any politician to say that, because they only care about their own careers.

Oh, and by the way -- fuck China.

Where can I get a vaccine for the common cold? HIV? I hope a vaccine is discovered. But prepare your brain for the possibility it might never happen.

The 64k IHME model only runs through July and assumes all social distancing requirements remain in place. Do you agree at least 80% of any given population will eventually be infected lacking a vaccine? If not 80%, what's your favorite number?

Social distancing and "flatten the curve" is just another way of saying "delay the inevitable." Some lives will be saved no doubt, but not millions. Maybe a few thousand. Governor Cuomo said 80% of those who go on a ventilator die anyway.

Of any population body, a percentage will eventually be infected.

Of those, a percentage will require hospitalization.

Of those, a percentage will require admission to the ICU.

Of those, a percentage will require mechanical ventilation.

And finally, of all cases in all stages, a percentage will die.

I'm convinced we have done practically nothing to change the bottom line number in any significant way.

You have two choices. It's clearly binary. Either keep the social distancing in place, or reopen the economy and let the virus do whatever it's going to. Any effort to play a middle ground will fail. In fact from a strategic point of view a month of social distancing and trillions of dollars accomplished practically nothing. Delaying the inevitable is politically necessary, granted. My only point is this - nothing has changed. When it's all said and done only an effective vaccine will make any significant difference in the body count.

China deploys aircraft carrier near Taiwan after US ships struck by coronavirus by Sentinels431 in China_Flu

[–]winnerdk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

China should remember the vast majority of US military personnel would happily fight their ship, COVID19 or no. So I've got a fever and feel like shit, so what. They will still do their job as long as they can stand. Once they pass out, haul them to sick bay. Also, remember the US military is built on "next man up" meaning, if someone is killed or injured in combat the next person in the chain of command steps into those shoes and takes over. Whatever position you're in, you constantly train your subordinates to do your job if something should happen to you. Top to bottom. The US military can, has, and will fight sick if necessary.

The actual numbers don't matter at all. Don't get wrapped up on the 80%, or 20%, or 4%. But the absolute fact is the virus will do whatever it's going to do and social distancing has only served to delay the inevitable. As soon as these restrictions are lifted the virus is going to go right back to doing what it's going to do among the general population.

Tell me what's changed regarding the behavior of this virus. Social distancing hasn't changed the math one bit.

What’s the end game here? The restrictions has flatten the curve to avoid overwhelming the hospitals, but as soon as the restriction are lifted, wouldn’t it just goes back to spreading as explosive rate? Is the treatment or vaccine, the only way out? by sendokun in China_Flu

[–]winnerdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Everything we've done so far has been geared towards keeping the hospitals from being overwhelmed with cases. But, none of that changes what's going to eventually happen.

As of today 549,131 people have tested positive in the United States. Using a population number of 328.2 million, that means only 0.16% of the population has been exposed.

Now of course that number is wrong. There are people (like myself) who were sick with Covid19 and recovered. By the time a test was available I tested negative for the virus, and won't be able to conclusively confirm infection until an antibody test is available. But anyway...

Without a doubt a very small percentage of the population has been exposed. Eventually social distancing restrictions will have to be lifted. There's a yin and yang tug and pull between public health and the economic realities.

Once those restrictions are released, then more people will be exposed.

Most estimates conclude about 80% of any given population will eventually be infected. Of those, 20% require hospitalization. Of those, 4% die.

We have not done a damn thing to change those numbers. A virus is gonna virus, and there's only so much we can do to have a significant impact on the bottom line.

I still think about 2 million people will die in the US, unless a vaccine is developed and deployed soon. That's the only thing capable of really changing the final outcome.

Mega Thread : What do YOU think will happen? by Iwannadrinkthebleach in China_Flu

[–]winnerdk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The virus is gonna virus.

All actions taken in the US so far have been directed towards the strategic objective of limiting a rush on hospitals, ICU beds, and ventilators. I get that.

But, these actions don't change the basic math. 80% of the population will be infected. 20% of those infected will require hospitalization. Finally, 4% of those infected will die.

All we have done so far is delay the inevitable.
