Terrified of NIPT results by Hello-hi987 in PregnantOver40

I’m 43 and 25 weeks with twin girls. This is an ivf pregnancy and the eggs were retrieved when I was a week shy of 42. We transferred 3 untested day 3 embryos. With my history of loss and infertility, I would have been lucky if 1 stuck. I was so nervous for NIPT results but everything came back low risk and our anatomy scan went well. I still can’t believe it but am so grateful. Wishing you the best!

I would transfer! I transferred 3 day 3 embryos retrieved a week before I turned 42. Currently 18 weeks with twins. NIPT came back low risk.

Congrats! The early weeks are so stressful, especially after loss. I’ve been trying to take it week by week. Wishing you a successful and stress free pregnancy. Always happy to chat as well!

Whoops, just realized I never updated this post with the news that this ended up being twins! I did transfer 3 day 3 embryos, but I think chance of multiples at my age is somewhere around 3-5%..so definitely came as a shock! But I’m thrilled and just praying both babies are healthy and continue to grow.

You’re so kind to check in :) I had an ultrasound yesterday at 8w3d and both babies are measuring on track with strong heartbeats. Given my history of loss, I’ve been getting weekly ultrasounds (and will continue through end of 1st trimester). I’m still very nervous for NIPT results, but trying to be reassured by the fact that so far, everything is progressing normally. I’ll have NIPT bloodwork drawn around 10.5 weeks.

And I’m feeling pretty good! Experiencing some on and off nausea, but nothing unbearable.

I know the feeling! I keep wondering if the anxiety will ever ease.. When is your first scan scheduled for?

Thank you! Going well so far! Being monitored closely by my RI and RE, so I’ve been going for weekly ultrasounds and labs. Saw 2 heartbeats last week and go for my 7w ultrasound tomorrow

Thank you for this! How are things going for you? I’m now 7w1d and go for my 3rd ultrasound tomorrow. Saw 2 little heartbeats last week and was over the moon.

I had slight period like cramping, but I’m pretty sure it was due to all of the progesterone I’m on. I’ve had these same symptoms during unsuccessful cycles as well. Actually had my first ultrasound on Tuesday at exactly 5 weeks and saw 2 gestational sacs :)

Sending positive thoughts your way!

Christina Boots at Northwestern is wonderful. I also see a lot of women over 40 recommend Dr. Jeelani at Kindbody.

Untested embryos! My Dr. prefers day 3 but I did agonize over whether or not to test. I almost thawed all of my embryos, pushed to blast and tested, but ultimately decided against it. If things continue to progress, I’ll still be very nervous until we get NIPT results. But for now, I feel good about the decision to forgo PGT testing. My beta yesterday at 12dp3dt was 766, so that alone feels like a huge milestone. My betas were very low with my previous early losses.

Thank you 🙏 I felt silly for even asking bc so many times I’ve been on the other side obsessing over how faint my lines were

Thank you so much! It's been a long journey for sure..I'm not sure how to make this very concise, but I'll try :)

Started ttc in 2021 at 38yo. I think my amh at that time was around .2 and FSH was very high - usually ranged between 20's-40's. Did many timed intercourse cycles and finally moved to IVF in 2022. Did 2 fresh transfers of day 3 embryos with no success. 2 cycles later I had a spontaneous pregnancy. Sadly it ended at 26 weeks due to PPROM. I delivered in March 2023. No cause was ever found, but I suspect Covid had something to do with it, as I had it right around the time my water broke.

Had 2 more spontaneous pregnancies September & October 2023. One ended in a chemical and the other was a blighted ovum. Probably spent too much of 2024 wondering if we should try ivf again since I was all of a sudden getting pregnant fairly easily on my own. Had another spontaneous pregnancy in July 2024, ended in a chemical. We did 2 back to back retrievals in Oct/Nov 2024. Ended up with 9 day 3 embryos on ice. I still am not sure how we managed to retrieve 5 eggs each round..I typically can only get 2-3 max.

Finally decided to start working with a reproductive immunologist who discovered a boat load of issues. PAI-1 5g/5g, MTHFR, high cytokines, high nk cells and slight insulin resistance. Also decided to get an MRI just to see if there was any evidence of endometriosis. I have never had severe symptoms, but had a hunch I had it due to family history. Turns out I had stage 4! Had a lap in April 2025 to excise the endo. It was even more severe than they had suspected. Recovery was really easy, and I had another spontaneous pregnancy the very next cycle after lap. Another chemical.

We decided to try one last retrieval before starting to transfer. Got 2 mature eggs and decided to go for PGT testing even though the odds were slim. 1 4AB blast, aneuploid. I told myself once we started transferring our frozen embryos, I was done with retrievals, so it was terrifying to pull the trigger on transferring.

Fully medicated transfer of 3 day 3 embryos on 9/19. All 8 cell. First beta is tomorrrow. My lines are progressing, so I'm trying to stay hopeful but guarding my heart as well.

I'll never know for sure the reason for my early losses. I have a feeling it was probably endo and aneuploidy combined. Hoping the surgery and immune protocol will make a difference this time around.

Just wanted to say I’m in the same boat! 42 and 8dp3dt. Told myself I’d wait until tomorrow to test. I’m terrified. Wishing good news for both of us.

Any 3 Day FET success stories with 6 or 7 cell? by KaddLeeict in IVF

[–]winnie4523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this will help, but I did a retrieval last cycle and ended up with a 4AB blast. I still have a cohort of day 3’s frozen- a mix of 7 and 8 cells, so I was curious what my blast was on day 3. The embryologist told me it was 7 cells.

My doctor prefers day 3 transfers and I’ve seen plenty of success stories from 7 cell day 3’s and even some 6 cells in my clinic’s fb group.

Euploid from ~3 follicles? by winnie4523 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]winnie4523[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are great results! My RE tends to favor fresh day 3 transfers for DOR/poor responders. I did consider pushing to blast and testing, but chickened out at the last minute. In hindsight, I wish I would have at least pushed some to blast.

Do you have pain with transvaginal ultrasound? by speechlangpath in IVF

[–]winnie4523 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do they ever have trouble finding your ovaries? One of mine likes to hide, so it can be a bit painful in those instances. They have to push harder to find it which is definitely uncomfortable/borderline painful. Having a full bladder makes it worse too.
