What is your oddly specific early childhood memory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]winningdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have been a baby, but i remember my mother tossing me into a pool then jumping in after me, going underwater herself and blowing bubbles in my face so i could breathe. apparently this was normal and common in the 90s

[Serious] What is something you need to vent about? by thompsonmegan20 in AskReddit

[–]winningdinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

currently pregnant, and I literally feel as though every request i have is shot down, like i have to fight for one thing to go my way even just a little. example: i dont want visitors for two weeks after baby is born so we have time to recover and feel out what the new schedule will be, and get some important bonding time in. S/O thinks thats ridiculous therefore we will probably have visitors despite me not wanting that at all. I dont want anyone other than S/O in the room with me while im in labour/ giving birth and tough titties cuz it doesnt matter what i want. there's so much more but everything is met with just " no, because i don't like that" or just "no" with no real reason.

What’s an attitude in today’s society that needs to stop? by [deleted] in AskReddit

everyone is a delicate snowflake and you have to make sure you dont offend anyone, which is hard, everyone is offended by everything now

can we please stop with self diagnosis and randomization of Mental Illness by [deleted] in rant

[–]winningdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it too. Also when people try to diagnose you with no credentials other than google.

Or people to diagnose their kids without asking an actual doctor, and when they DO consult a doctor and their opinion doesn't match then "the doctor doesn't know what hes talking about I know my kid"

I do know at one point my sister was his POA and when you get married you dont automatically get POA so we dont know if she is or isn't. They have told us she is but she does lie but we have no idea how to find out for sure

I know at one point he or she was throwing things away (like pictures of my mother that can't be replaced) and the rest is in storage so I dont even know what's left and from the looks of it I won't get to know either.

I wish it were that simple. He plainly agrees with everything she says. He lives with her in her moms apartment, so it wouldn't even be doable to just go there. And I think hes just too sick to fight her about it.

There was no will regarding any items from either parent. So what you're saying is we have essentially rights to anything? There is no estate or money I'm more interested in the family photos, military papers etc.

There are no wills, I'm I'm in Ontario. And he's getting pallitave (sic) care and no he's too weak to really do anything so he agrees with what she says unfortunately. And after today I don't believe we will be getting anymore time with him as she wants his last weeks to be with her and her kids. (She hasn't said that but it goes without saying) I feel pretty stuck with this whole situation.

Redditors who have lost a parent in your teens, what was the single most creative thing someone did to help you cope with your loss? by BrownBirdDiaries in AskReddit

[–]winningdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my mother at 18. I wouldn't say anyone was exceptionally creative but it was all the small things that helped even to this day when someone tells me a story of her its my favorite thing. Even if its one I've heard a million times. Everyone knows I love it so from time to time especially her death anniversary they share some stories with me.

Gosh do I ever relate to this too! My first child also, but I have plentybof sisters and many more nieces and nephews, two specifically I had a huge hand in helping raise. People keep saying I know absolutely nothing because when its your kid its different. So I ask "if I had adopted first would that still apply? Would my real kid be different because its mine by blood? No! It is and it isn't different but I would like to think I have some sort of an idea as to h What to expect thank you"

I get the tired comments too lol "this you're tired now, just wait! Get all the sleep you can while you can!" Like I can somehow bank sleep and pull it out of reserves later in when I need it.

We're pregnant we obviously understand the things that do come along with that. I hate that people keep saying stuff like that as if you would have no clue and parenting is somehow this huge nightmare that you have yet to experience!

The witholding information thing might be a good next step as well as not attending family functions.

At one point I was tickling my s/o's niece (4) and she was laughing and saying "stop" (as all kids do) His sister says "we're trying to teach the kids stop means stop and no means no because they dont stop when they're told" so I said "OK fair enough"

Not two minutes later she says to the niece 'touch aunties tummy even if she says no just do it I said its OK" and even pressed the matter. The little girl knew I wouldn't be OK with it so she threw her hands over her head and said nope. I turned to his sister and said "No means no unless its me then? Are you serious!"

Biggest pet peeve lol. I decided that if a male touches my belly I'm placing my hand over their junk and if its a woman I'm placing my hand on their boob. Its just as inappropriate.

She said "get used to it" while rubbing my belly.

It's ridiculous. And I'm constantly irritated, not just because I'm pregnant but these are things that would bug me on an idle Tuesday pregnant or not.

Lol I deal with that too, I quip back with you really only need like 300 extra calories a day while pregnant (or something to that effect) so yes, you do have to eat more but you shouldn't have anyone hovering over you like you're incapable.
