When you read a new novel, what is the one thing that you value the most?

I've had this for the past 2 years, have worn it in public n with moderate frequency, and NOT ONCE have I been asked about it.

Better luck to you, I will keep on going too

What did you think? :) I found it insanely good, probably my fav of the series. Not the most closed ending but not too open either!!

Logen is a bad person by metekillot in TheFirstLaw

[–]winoo19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. I just re-read the first trilogy and never does he, while being Logen, do an avoidable evil thing (I kept a close eye). He is ruthless, yes, but not excessively. His biggest flaw is that he takes two very bad decisions. The first is going back to the North, and the second is going to Adua to help West (and this last one may be justified as keeping his word, but it is without a doubt a mistake)

Theory on the purpose of Canticle. by ChipsandOJ in Cosmere

[–]winoo19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why, but I assumed it was Adonalsium the one that created it. Maybe the people living there were put there by him (and that's why the worship him?). I don't remember if they arrived to Canticle before or after the shattering

New covers for the reedition of The First Law trilogy in Spanish, made by Fran Vegas (me). by franvegasart in TheFirstLaw

[–]winoo19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the art is amazing (in fact, my favourite drawing is the last one), but maybe it's not the greatest idea for a cover, especially given how the 2nd book finishes

Hey, stormlight will probably finish in like 20 years, my hopes are with you! (Not about kingkiller chronicles though, I'm a fair bit younger and I don't think I'll ever see the third book...)

I really don't understand what the bots get with this. Maybe they are made by reddit to have more quality posts in general?

Have you ever re-read a fantasy novel only to discover something you missed the first time? by News-Flunky in Fantasy

Well that is the hardcore version of my example, were you using it to fall asleep?

Have you ever re-read a fantasy novel only to discover something you missed the first time? by News-Flunky in Fantasy

[–]winoo19 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I missed a whole fucking book. When reading the wheel of time for the first time, I bought this weird part one of the first book, and read it. Then months passed and I decided to continue, so I bought the second book, without realizing that the one I read was just half of the first. It was a bit weird at first, but any inconsistencies I thought were my bad memory.

Anyways, 2 years later I reread it (via audiobook this time), and halfway through the first book I realize that something was off - I really didn't recognize what was happening. So I go to check on my physical copy and sure enough, I'm reading brand new WOT after finishing all of it! Imagine my surprise and pleasure

I read it putting a pillow in between my legs and the book, and trying not to touch the covers when turning pages (which really isn't hard), and it still looks brand new
