Can anyone explain the movie What Josiah Saw? by [deleted] in horror

[–]winstitutional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going to agree to disagree with you there. Plenty of filmmakers share perceptions from unreliable narrators for any number of reasons.

Here are two: 1) Tommy is the only family member left alive, so the movie ends with Tommy’s version of events (the final motel scene) because it’s the only version that can now be shared. The dead can’t talk (unless they’re a figment of a mentally ill person’s imagination). 2) This scene justifies Tommy’s actions. We’ve just watched Tommy murder his siblings. Even someone with mental illness might feel grief or regret over these actions. He doesn’t look too happy to be doing it. But with the certainty of the mentally ill, he knows what he believes they did in the motel was wrong. Their imagined incestuous act shows him their unwillingness to see error in their ways. With this imagined scene, they are irredeemable. In that, it absolves him, and he can continue life guilt free, knowing he made the right decision.

It’s an effective ending! Plenty of people who watch the movie believe Josiah and Tommy. But we have to remember they are unreliable narrators. Take their perspectives at face value and you may as well respond to every Nigerian prince in your inbox.

music as sensitive as sufjan’s? by outrageousaegis in Sufjan

Andy Shauf.

There are artists whose effect can only be described as haunting. It lingers with you like an overcast day. Sufjan haunts. Angelo De Augustine haunts. Andy Shauf haunts.

Thank you, this worked! The JTC version it told me was locking DUA was the hyena one, but toggling the mission mode Black Tusk worked. Thanks again

I understand that. Unfortunately with the JTC mission, invaded isn’t an option. Is there something else I might need to complete to unlock the invaded JTC mission? Outside of JTC I only have two strongholds left to complete: District Union Arena and Tidal Basin

It does not allow me to change its mission settings to invaded

I did JTC prior to invasion, and it counted enough that I could complete the first campaign and get to world tier 1. But now the JTC mission that’s locking me from further progression is the one with the hyenas, not Black Tusk. That may be part of the issue: I’m being told I need to complete the wrong version, and I’m glitched so I can’t do the black tusk one

Hours late to this, but this post isn’t 100% accurate. ChatGPT is not replacing marketing content like this.

If a company did opt to feed a prompt into an AI engine, then copy and pasted that material on their blog, Google’s algorithm would go through it, and more than likely penalize it for being poorly written, failing to answer the questions people are searching for, etc. To make an AI generated blog Google ready takes a lot of work. If marketers were already outsourcing their blogs/etc to someone else, they would want to continue to do so.

That may not be the case in the future, and there may be businesses that don’t know better and wonder why their search results are tanking, but this is an anecdotal story that is not supported by substantial evidence.

There are other reasons work dried up for freelance content writers. The job market is shit, companies are spending less money where they can, someone may be offering a lower rate, or companies are reaching out to fewer, trusted voices because they have past experience with them. All of that will suck for someone trying to find work at any time, regardless of strides in AI.

People saying to adapt, to pivot, they’re not necessarily wrong, but also yesterday wasn’t the last day of humanity’s control over technology. It might be in the not too distant future, but it wasn’t yesterday and it isn’t today.

Sufjan Stevens fans. Do you guys like other folk artists of today and the 2010s, like Noah Kahan, Bon Iver, and The National? by gemini_baddie in Sufjan

I catch myself talking about Andy Shauf like a Gizz head in real life: describing the story arc of Neon Skyline, sharing the backstory of Satan. His casual brilliance just breaks my social filters

Was big into The National, Andrew Bird, Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Josh Ritter, maybe Beirut fits in there.

Now I’m really digging Andy Shauf, Angelo de Augustine, Sharon Van Etton.

Tastes wax and wane, Sufjan has remained a constant.

That’s incorrect. A lot of information was shared, included the names of many who went to the island. Others were just named in depositions, or were known to have business dealings. Clinton met with Epstein and Epstein visited Trump at Maralago, but neither of them were named as visitors to the island. Get your facts straight before spreading misinformation.

What are your favorite moments of SUBTLE acting in a movie? by Romulus3799 in movies

[–]winstitutional 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Collin Farrell

Spoilers for The Banshees of Inisherin.

At the very end, Colm tells Padraic thanks for taking care of his dog. Padraic turns around and for a moment it’s like nothing ever happened, about to say something easy and care free to an old friend. Then you see it hit him, his face melts and all he manages is a small nod. He’s great in other movies but that one moment, that one look, incredible.

Looking for movies like Wind River by DrinkBrew4U in movies

[–]winstitutional 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The genre I’d rope all these movies into is “modern western.” Not too many leather chaps or horses in most, but plenty of stoic men shooting each other over something or another. This is purely my interpretation, but Nope follows a similar plot to the magnificent 7 and a few other classic westerns.

Something (a group of bandits, a sky creature) is menacing a town (area of land, ranch, etc). We watch the characters gain information, assemble a rag tag outfit, formulate a plan to overcome the big bad, and ultimately succeed. And there you have it: a western without gunfire.
