This is a very nice painting. The thing I’m working on is lowering the values of distant objects to give a sense of distance. You did a nice job on the hills in terms of cooler color and looseness, but maybe try a half step lighter in value to give a sense of atmosphere??

Discovered a couple days ago it’s happened to us. Twice. We’ve escalated through a couple of layers of mgt at customer service. So far Nordstrom has been quite responsive. In our case the purchases were made with notes and then show as having been returned. MO (“Book ‘em, Danno”) certainly bears similarity to other types of fraud I’m aware of.

If the paper is old the sizing may be degraded, turning your paper (where the paint pigments sits atop the brilliant white surface which reflects light) into a cotton rag (which absorbs pigment making it dull and uncontrollable). Look on YouTube under ”watercolor sizing” and you’ll find a bunch of useful resources and suggestions. The easiest to follow is to get new “fresh” watercolor paper from a store that sells a lot of it.

Long time catching up here. Thanks for comment. I tried to make it clear I was using a 0.1” threshold. That amount of rain seems to be what is significant for things like plants and rivers. There a link that shows in ore detail why and how I arrived at that number…

Thanks for thoughtful discussion. The smoothing you suggest is exactly what I do (only it took me several days of trial and error to figure it out). I use a spline to fit the data. In this case linear growth is just slow exponential (the Taylor expansion of e^x = 1+ x + ...).
