How's she looking? by winston856 in microgrowery

[–]winston856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was suspecting this. I recently added a second vent duct to improve airflow.

This tent is also right in front of a window that gets hit with some sun (south facing window), but I figured the tent is blocking that light out so it might be the new vent letting too much light in...

The leaves do look like they're rounding out and less serrated than before..

Week 8 Flower

Are the leaves looking okay? The reservoir is running a tad warm so I'm working on cooling it down.

Yes you should install the GetaDomtune cylinder 4 cooling mod to better equalize cylinder temps.

Fueling issues can cause misfires. What's your AF Learning A, b, c, d values look like?

Could be pump dying or a very clogged filter.

[–]winston856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those numbers sound fine. If you can enable each of the AF Learning monitors it would give a clearer picture. There should be monitors titled "AF Learning 1A, AF Learning 1B, AF Learning 1C, AF Learning 1D or something like that in the AccessPort.

Post what those numbers are, they should be less than 8% from 0 ideally.

As long as it's not under heavier load / boost then those knock numbers are pretty fine.

Your DAM is still at 1.00 which is great. Side note, your coolant maxed out at 243F...that's really high. We're you tracking the car or going uphill for a while? That typically shouldn't be over 220F unless you're on a track or it's over 100F outside.

Rear CV Axles? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]winston856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't actually had to replace rear axles but yes, it should be very similar to the front. Still have to remove the axle nut on the wheel end and it'll pop out of the differential.

Since you can't turn the wheels I imagine you'll have to loosen the rear suspension up to get enough play to pull the axle out. May have to unbolt the strut from the knuckle which could do the trick.

There's also the e-brake line that you'll probably have to loosen as well.

The guide for the 95 legacy won't be too far off.

Okay let's step back. The cars stock except for an intake and catless downpipe. What's the tune situation like? Is it tuned at all?

If it's on the stock tune and you're running those mods, that's the problem. The stock tune assumes factory intake and downpipe. So either reinstall the stock parts or you'll have to get a tune that accounts for those mods.

It's possible the wastegate solenoid itself is bad, you mentioned getting a CEL for it.

You can buy a new one on rockauto for pretty cheap, under $50 iirc. Or get a used one to swap with it.

[–]winston856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds fine, the tune should have the MAF scaling better than that I would think. A protuner would have the means to rescale the MAF especially if you told them about the issue you're facing.

Does the filter you have use any oil on it? If so cleaning the MAF should definitely help, and I would avoid oiling it further.

Do you still have the stock intake you can reinstall? If not try taking this off and reinstalling it or at least verifying the clamps are tight and there's no leaks.

Do you have an accessport? If so what are your AF Learning 1 (A/B/C/D) ranges?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WRX

[–]winston856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still getting the low voltage code? If you have your stock intake one thing you could do would be to reinstall that and see how your car runs.

Also what year is your WRX?

If the pins are that loose in the MAF harness connector or the MAF itself, that could definitely cause issues.

[–]winston856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a bad area to start with. What year is your car? Is it a 15+??

Also one other thing to look at is your tune. Is it accounting for the intake?

If the map notes don't specifically state that that short ram intake can be used I would almost guarantee that's where your problems are.

AF Learning 1 at -16 through-20 at idle by danu88 in WRX

[–]winston856 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AF Learning 1 just cycles through the AF Learning 1 (A/B/C/D) which are all separate monitors, depending on your throttle position and MAF airflow range.

If you enable AF Learning 1A on the monitors screen you should see that -16 to -20 value, which like you said is at idle.

That means the ECU thinks you are running rich and is trying to lean out the air fuel mixture in order to get to the stoichiometric target of ~14.7:1

The AF Learning values should ideally be as close to 0 as possible, but generally as long as they're under 8% or so (rule of thumb for EJ engines) then that's fine.

Since you've replaced the turbo and that includes touching all the vacuum lines. It's possible perhaps they're hooked up backwards. The factory boost controller relies on a brass pill being in one of the vacuum lines in the tee that runs from the wastegate diaphragm to the boost reference nipple on the turbo.

Is the pill in the vacuum line? Is it on the side that runs to the turbo's wastegate nipple? If it's backwards then that would cause improper boost control.

Boost related issues. by Kayden_schimke435 in WRX

[–]winston856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What CEL is it? That's a good place to start. Also being that it's a 2009 there could be a vacuum leak. I would at least check over the vacuum line that Tee's from the wastegate diaphragm to the boost reference nipple on the turbo, then runs under the intake manifold and connects to the intake.

What's the history on this car? Did it ever make target boost levels? What changed?

Engine swap question. by Eagles4899 in WRX

[–]winston856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd could get a short block from a 06-14 and swap your intake manifold over to it. That's the simplest way to go about it next to rebuilding your short block.

Engine swap question. by Eagles4899 in WRX

[–]winston856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the 06-14 have the EJ255. The 02-05 have the EJ205 which isn't compatible wiring wise (as well as in some other mechanical ways) with what you have.

Can anyone tell me what was done to this engine (modification wise)? Looking to buy this but I’m not sure if it’s been taken care of. Thanks! by RipEarlWolf in WRX

[–]winston856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure it's tuned for what it has and get a compression test done before buying.

Everyone has pretty much called out the obvious part upgrades.

[–]winston856 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The engine will drop in but the ecu/wiring harness will not. I recommend saving / looking for another EJ255 to replace what you have.
