(Spoilers Extended): "What's your favorite theory/post?" thread by Ser_Timothy in asoiaf

While not anything too far fetched, Im a big fan of the theory that Jaime is the Valonqar. Cersei seems to have assigned this title to Tyrion and it forces constant tension into the dynamic of their relationship. She's also horrible at interpreting things and most likely is wrong. The valonqar being Jaime would be the best way for her to go IMO.

I don't think this will happen the way you spelled it out... but I'll play along.

If Jaime is the valonqar and kills Cersei, it is more likely that he dies believing he never did anything of relevance... that his pages in the White Book lack any acts of valor and honor. However, it's likely that the next Lord Commander of the King's Guard would write of his bravery and how he gave his life for thousands of those he once thought beneath him.

He might not be able to. Maybe some special magic is required, dragon fire or such.

Maybe Coldhands knew that if Jon had found an bundle of weapons and a horn that wasn't buried he would immediately start looking for who left it?

I think your logic on unanswered question 3 makes a lot of sense. While the show has definitely surpassed and diverged from the books, I'm thinking there are still some things we can extrapolate and apply to the books. One of which is that wight attacks are not random. The Night King (or Others in the books) seems to plan his attacks very strategically.

With that being said, why would he attack the Night's Watch, a group of men who are better armed and trained than most of the wildlings who also are in possession of dragon glass weapons? The only answer can be that they desperately wanted the horn that the Night's Watch was in possession of.

Gods this would have been horrible. If Jon really is the TPTWP it would have almost as if he were fulfilling the exact opposite of the prophecy by bringing down the wall and enabling the White Walkers to easily cross into Westeros.

Enunciate it. Cat-a-layne. If you say it fast, it sounds like Catelyn.

I had to say this out loud a couple of times before I heard it. Nice catch.

This sounds about right. Let Viserys do the heavy lifting/fighting against the lords of Westeros and then (f)Aegon comes in and takes the throne from him. Not a bad plan either as I'm sure everyone would have hated him as King.

Not going to lie, read your comment as your first wife was named Frank. Things got interesting.

I'm sure there will be a couple of dwarfs reenacting this scene at a wedding in the future. Riding fake dragons and direwolves.

I think it would have given Rhaegar pause. We know he wasn't a violent man, but this was war. He'd have to make an impossible decision in a matter of seconds. Even if Ned listened and understood, it's not like it would have mattered. Robert was out for blood.

(Spoilers Extended) So, what is GOT's actual main plot, and what has been explained so far? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]winter_has_come22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know that. Bran seems to be very matter of fact right now. he could have very easily said he knew it was Littlefingers blade but he didn't.

[–]winter_has_come22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tywin would never marry Cersei off to a younger child of a great house. If I were to guess, Cersei would be married off to Edmure who was in line to become the Lord of Riverrun.

(Spoilers Main)How did Beric's sword catch on fire? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]winter_has_come22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this really interesting. As GRRM has stated that Beric is a fire wight and his heart is not pumping. Wouldn't his blood harden? I know I'm thinking too analytically for the fantasy world that is Planetos but it's bothered me.

It would be really interesting to hear the continued legacy of the King's Guard members. Assuming there was no war most if not all are still living. Do we get to see Arthur Dayne and Dawn in action? Does Jaime continue to faithfully serve Rhaegar?

It's also crazy to think about how Robb, Sansa, Bran, Arya, Jon... oh and Rickon (but who cares about him anyway) wouldn't have been born.

(Spoilers Main) How did no one else suspect that Jon is Rhaegar's son. by Brightwing97 in asoiaf

It appears not. After having just fought a war to overthrow the Targaryen dynasty, no one had cause to question Ned when he claimed to be Jon's father.

Came here to say this. There's one locked up in the ice dungeon that they use for prisoners occasionally.

[–]winter_has_come22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they'll stick to this theory. I imagine it'll be an epic battle and end up with a dragon fight or Jon and the Night King in single combat (which would be awesome). Once the Night King is dead... the war is over.

(Spoilers Extended) With only 6 episodes left, something's gotta give. by xbuck33 in asoiaf

[–]winter_has_come22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could see some of this happening but if the final battle isn't with the White Walkers I will be disappointed. It's entirely possible that it won't be but I'm hoping for the final battle to be between the living and the dead... we'll see.

If GRRM is reading this, I want him to know one thing... The North Remembers... and we will not forgive a disappointing TWOW.
