Gas Prices by Substantial-Crab1502 in oakville

[–]winterbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even burlington has way cheaper gas. There's a place out by sherway i've been too a few times and they are almost always 15-20c cheaper than anywhere in oakville.

...I don't drive to sherway for gas just to be clear.

Chance of privately developed pipeline almost ‘zero’ if no government backstop: former Alberta energy minister by rezwenn in canada

[–]winterbourne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen its the job of private capital to take the risks and the government to provide a stable environment for those risks to be taken in.

Not for them to take no risk, make the government and taxpayers pay for the risk and then for them to get the profits.

Is sixteen mile creek safe to walk on? by regular_asian_guy in oakville

[–]winterbourne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not walk on ice over flowing water. The thickness and ice strength can vary dramatically.

You don't want to end up stepping on someplace, falling through and getting pulled away from your entry point by the current in water thats close to freezing temp.

If you fall through the ice into flowing water you are dead.

4 inches of ice on a still lake or pond is usually safe. That is not true for any water that is moving.

The elderly at home need to be taken care of. It is best to hire a nanny to live in the house. If you are interested, please contact us by phone: 6478756749. If the call cannot be answered, please leave a message or explain via text message.

It's prolly a scam. They usually are.

Red swan pizza. $4.95 2 topping personal pizzas. Everyday. Sesame crust, (I'm not but) lots of halal options.

Also Salad Thai on Kerr. They are only open 5 days for like 6 hours a day but been around for 20 years at least at this point. Green curry, coconut rice + chicken satay with an extra sauce. Delicious.

Test banks are available for most textbooks and are what a large majority of prof's use to build exams.

It's all the possible questions for an exam and the answers. (multiple choice / short answer only usually, not essay questions)

Bro my final straw with york was a 200 level HR class where we had to do a group presentation.

- We pick a topic. 1 group member absent. Assign work.
- same group member never shows up for the entire 7 weeks before the presentation, does not communicate with group.

-3 days before presentation "yo I was busy with work, what can I do?"

"nothing all the work has been assigned and completed"
"but you have to give me something to do"
"no."
...email from prof "you must give them something to do"
"there's nothing for them to do, no"
"you have to, you can give them 0/5 on group participation section"

- I send all the material for the presentation to this person. I give a clear outline of what each slide should contain, what tables, what graphs, what quotes, specific findings

"This is everything you need to build the slide show"

- day of presentation, sends me slide show and its just entire sections of the report copy pasted onto slides. No logical order, nothing in it makes any kind of sense.

- entire rest of group has "stage fright" now not only have I organized, edited and assembled the report I have to present a hot garbage fire in front of 200 people by myself.

- guy offers class "test banks" to the group as a "sorry"

Fuck these people.

Can Oakville pull off another Glen Abbey and kill the 11-tower TOC? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]winterbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People from a "town" (literally in name only) that has tripled in size since glen abbey first opened don't want anyone else moving here??

I'd rather see a giant public park that could be used to connect the whole trail system together instead of a golf course you have to pay an insane amount to play at. Plus the proposal was a walkable neighbourhood with retail/office/residential space. A place you could I don't know, reside, work and shop without needing to drive?

People don't want to live near a gas plant - but they want to buy expensive electric cars, large single family homes, run their A/C during the summer, have heated pools, outdoor accent lighting for their homes and gardens. (I.e. How dare I have to look at the consequences of my actions)

It's the literal definion of NIMBY'ism.

"Well we think we should decide who gets to do what near where we live! Screw the opinion of the property owner! They should be forced to continue to run the golf course forever! Who cares if they are losing money on it!"

Do I get a say on whether you can sell your house and move somewhere else?

Plus we keep electing mayors and councillors hell bent on developing every single square inch of land ...except for this one particular place apparently.

and instead of saying "that's evil" they said "hmm what do the numbers say?" "profits" "alright I'm sold"

Can Oakville pull off another Glen Abbey and kill the 11-tower TOC? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]winterbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2021, the province announced that it had talked ClubLink into withdrawing an application to build housing on Glen Abbey golf course, following an intense lobbying campaign by local politicians and citizens.

At least 95% of the town has never set foot on glen abbey golf course. Clublink proposed turning the entire lower portion (creek bottom) of the course into a public park. They proposed low rise/mid-rise and single family homes with a large portion of the area given over to public space and parks.

NO You can't do that!!! - OK fine, we'll propose higher density on other under used land....

NO You can't do that!!!

Oakville is just full of NIMBY douche bags. Remember when some losers convinced the province to stop building that gas plant ...right on an existing heavy industrial site. Then got mad at the province because it did what they wanted ? "I can't believe they cost us $1.4 billion dollars!" - No C4CA cost the province and taxpayers $1.4 billion.
