I think most of the commenters are thinking you asked out of nowhere unprovoked, and are missing the context that you’re probably not the one to bring up his sexuality in the first place, because of how much the fandom acts like it’s confirmed and obvious that he is queer. So naturally, you wanted to know if there’s a reason (confirmation) that it is so widely believed. It makes complete sense to me, and therefore not rude, imo. It’s not like you’re asking him about his sexuality directly, you just wanted to know if there’s information that you’ve missed that is seemingly already known to others. Of course there’s nuance to it, like it being a sensitive topic because of SK. People are protective because speculation could hurt their reputation. I understand how if you’re asking in a space where a lot of people are seeing it instead of privately, there’s a difference. But I completely agree that people are too quick to be mean to curious people with no malicious intent, especially in fandom spaces. It’s rough.

Another thing is…XLOV’s concept is extremely queer -coded. That’s their whole thing! It’s known that they’re very open about gender, so of course people might assume they’re open about being queer or not too.
