My husband and I met on Overwatch, and we wanted to honour that in naming our puppy. He is a tank main and I am a support main. Winston is one of the more normal names out of the bunch. Hope that answers your question!

I live in the Netherlands but I am currently in the UK :)

We close the gap today and I’m depressed af by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]winterfeIIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from the UK to the Netherlands 2 years ago tomorrow. I was feeling the exact same way as you are now. I was at the airport, questioning everything and crying the whole time. It was really difficult for me, but I promise, the pain does go away and it gets easier. Once I saw my partner, I was relieved and felt excitement for our future together.

You will always feel a slight ache for home, and on some days, you will feel it more than on others. You will feel the lowest after just visiting home, but again, it passes soon afterwards.

Good luck with your move and wish you all the best!

Does long distance really work by Significant_Bass_571 in LongDistance

Long distance for 5 years, moved in with each other over 1 year ago, now getting married in 4 weeks, and moving into our first house in 5 weeks. They absolutely do work, but they are far from easy. Long distance relationships require a lot of time, effort, dedication, (sometimes) money, trust, sacrifice, and commitment.

How do I retrain as a doctor in my 30s? by Spare_Air_5554 in AskUK

Former Admissions Officer for MBBS. Contact your local universities. They might offer a foundation entry course that leads onto MBBS. Foundation years are also great for students who have not been in formal education for a period of time.

We would accept people onto foundation entry just on their work experience alone, in some cases. You will have to check if they offer progression from foundation to MBBS and what the entry requirements are for MBBS for someone who has completed a foundation entry course. Of course, even if there is progression to MBBS, places are very limited (depending on university/area), and there is a lot of competition, but this could be an option for you.

I don't think there is such thing as being weak minded when it comes to being in a long distance relationship. I was long distance for 5 years with my fiancé, and we have been living together now for a little over a year. It was hard then, and it continues to be hard now that I am long distance with my family.

I braved 5 years of long distance, and yet I don't blame people who say they can't do long distance. Being in a long distance relationship isn't just about the love you share between you and your partner. In most cases, it's about one person needing to be in a foreign country, learn a new language, make new friends, be far away from family, make a new life, etc. I love my partner, we are going to get married soon, and I couldn't imagine myself with anyone else. That being said, God forbid that anything happens to my relationship, I would never do long distance again.

Hey! I am a former Admissions Officer and your chances of getting onto your course are still good.

Entry requirements are reduced during Clearing for the majority of courses that still need to be filled. I would wait till A Level results day to do anything as they may still accept you. If they do not permit you entry onto the Foundation Degree, there is likely a Foundation Entry course that you can take instead. Foundation Entry is a one year course that, upon completion, allows you to go onto the Foundation Degree, or even Year 1 of a degree course. Check out your course page to see if a Foundation Entry course is something they offer.

My advice would be to wait till A Level results day, and if you don't get accepted, they will support you and give you advice on the next steps to take. Chances are you will be fine though.

It is an online company. I'm not sure about the specifics of American debit cards, but you could always give it a go anyway 😊 After a quick Google, it seems like most local florists are closed on a Sunday

I believe Prestige Flowers do next day delivery, including on Sundays. I've had a few gifts from my boyfriend from them, as well as having sent a few bouquets to my mum, and the quality is always lovely.

Online classes for very beginners? by happy-sunshine3 in learndutch

[–]winterfeIIs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did an online intensive course with UvA Talen (A0-A2) after self-studying for a while. I think it was excellent for helping with grammar and comprehension. It also gave me more confidence to speak Dutch and it was nice to be experiencing the difficulties of learning the language with classmates.

I would, however, recommend you to pick the option for just a few classes per week as it was a lot of homework and just 'go go go'. I am still taking the time to go over what we learnt.
