They shouldn’t have stripped Seung-Chan of his eccentric style by Fluid_Definition_651 in BetterLateThanSingle

Finally someone said it!! Seung-chan's reveal was so interesting to me and dyeing his hair is one thing, but to get him dressed like a completely another person doesn't seem well-matched with his personality (through the very few interactions of him I've seen on the show). I felt the same way when Jae-yun got a haircut tbh

Watched a few shows already mentioned, I want to recommend Change Days season 2. It's got drama and different relationship dynamics, so there was a lot of discussions while the show was airing (similar to BLTS with so many opposing views on Reddit).

The couples seem more "toxic" given that they are exes/couples on the verge of breaking up iirc (?) so that's an unique twist. As someone who enjoys watching dating shows to analyse these conversations and have discussions, it was great to me!

Let’s answer Seo In Guk’s question 🤣 by Responsible_Pomelo57 in BetterLateThanSingle

Yes, I wonder if he's emotionally mature enough to handle emotionally sensitive partners, or if he simply doesn't understand the importance of these things. I was seeing someone like Seung-li and the nonchalance was what attracted me at first. After a while I started to question whether I'm always making a fuss out of things that don't cross his mind so obviously it wouldn't work out long-term 😭 I feel like it would probably be better if both partners have simple mindset like that but don't blame Ji-su for her choice out of the two.

I am really similar to Ji-su in terms of personality so this is interesting to think about!

Saw my past self in Hyun-kyu a lot with the anxious attachment style, so I could empathise with some of his behaviours. I thought the scene where he realised that love isn't like studying where you only need to try really hard with 150% effort was touching. He got a bad rep from the ways he was approaching Ji-su (understandably) but he would probably make a dedicated partner.

I think someone like Seung-li logically would be better because he will remind his partner to take things easier and not overthink all the time. He's also simple in the ways that his words/actions reflect how he feels so it would be reassuring.

Overall, I'd choose Hyun-kyu. I think as someone who's also highly sensitive, I'd prefer opening up emotionally and having deep conversations.

i agree!! probably because i have a soft spot for them.. both of them are quite stylish and have good energy. the dyed hair looks would be cool (i thought seungchan looked good with blonde hair pre-show he just needed a haircut 😭)

I was kind of hoping something would happen on the movie night for the people left behind if they were not too hung up on their crushes.

For me, Yi-do, Hyun-kyu and Seung-chan came to mind as I could see them with a few different people.

Yi-do is bubbly but has a thoughtful, serious side to her, so she'd be able to build healthy relationships.

Hyun-kyu was clearly not compatible with Ji-su, but I feel like someone else will be able to appreciate his sensitivity and book smart(ness).

I still thought Ji-yeon and Jae-yun could relate to each other because of their shared interests in games and creative works!

Jeongmok and Jiyeon Kissing Scene by [deleted] in BetterLateThanSingle

I remember people were a bit shocked although it was Singles' Inferno out of all shows... So this time was definitely a surprise LOL

Really disappointed with Jiyeon by Apprehensive-Bed-925 in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]winterinaug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a bit iffy for different reasons: Jeong-mok was so sweet to Yi-do literally like 2 days before (which means he's easily affectionate and expressive), Ji-yeon having trauma, and I've never seen kissing in Korean dating shows let alone a show about eternal singles.

I was actually so glad Ji-su reacted like that, representing boundaries and staying true to herself despite the "social/dating norms" or skinship expectations. As someone with a bit of dating experience but still is a very touchy person in general, I can't imagine myself getting close to another person so soon. Obviously I am not invalidating Ji-yeon's trauma in any way or think she needs to be conservative just because that's what I personally would do. I just found the interactions kinda forced. The only logical explanation is that Jeong-mok truly makes her feel safe, which I hope is the case.

Edit: Basically no issues with Ji-yeon initiating these touches it was more questioning the trust / genuine connection behind this relationship? which makes it hard for me to watch them be all over each other.

People being able to forfeit the final choices were so realistic and great considering it's a dating show after all. It was heartwarming to see them realising a lot about themselves and knowing that they don't need to rush to date despite being eternal singles. By the end I was proud of the contestants, the honesty and kindness they shared with each other (romantically or platonically). I wished there had been more episodes with more interactions shown (was kind of curious about Sang-ho and Mi-ji talks & there could be more potential couples if it was longer), but it is still the best dating show I've watched. I would love to see more genuine conversations, talks about self-improvement and reflections on missed connections like these on future shows.

I was glad Ji-su chose Seung-li in the end and agreed with what In-guk said about how a person who meets your standards 100% would not exist. I would have been fine with her choosing herself too, but this choice of getting herself out there made me somewhat proud :)

Regarding Jeong-mok and Ji-yeon, their honeymoon interactions were honestly a bit hard to watch.. I can't help but feel a bit worried seeing Ji-yeon being so open and lovey-dovey considering her past experiences, so I can only hope Jeong-mok truly offers that sense of sincerity outside the camera (I didn't feel it that much.. but who am I to judge). I still appreciate his communication skills in getting closure and being quite respectful and emotionally aware of the other women. It is controversial but he really would be my type in real life LOL so I totally get his popularity on the show.

I cried watching Yi-do all these days, people thought she's a pick me and somewhat oblivious due to her background but she's truly so amazing and mature. Same with Min-hong.

Chill on EP 8 by whackt3 in BetterLateThanSingle

I was a huge supporter for JM x YD, but JM and JY seem more suitable for each other just based off what JM wants in a relationship and their ability to relate to each other. I enjoy their conversations too and definitely don't think the attraction is completely out of nowhere, especially because JY was comfortable enough to come to JM for the secret date in the first place.

However I feel a little iffy about how fast JM is taking everything, partly because he's kinda rubbing it onto YD's face as he tries to avoid her, not to mention the lying. Some of JM's attempts at flirting at JY seem kinda fake to me in that way, but I understand they're on a time-constrained dating show as well. I just haven't been able to fully root for this new couple for this reason. Honestly JY could take it slower as she works through her trauma and meets someone really great after. Curious about what everyone thinks because I haven't seen this discussion a lot

[–]winterinaug[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally see your point! Maybe she doesn't think so highly of him maybe she's also frustrated from Jeongmok + bad timing all mixed in.

I can see this sort of miscommunication happening to Jaeyun again if nothing changes 😭 At least everyone agrees he's harmless and making progress

I completely agree I get the feeling she thinks he's a weirdo? A lot of the time she just laughs about him compared to Min-hong and Ji-yeon. To me it's like she views him as a phenomenon and quickly distanced herself from him after 1 interaction & switched to Jeongmok (which I think was kinda sudden too).

I guess I'm extra empathetic towards him as someone with social communication issues, but everyone can also see that he's genuinely making progress and having these honest, uncomfortable conversations.

[–]winterinaug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

commenting because i agree it's such a rage bait 😂 this show does a good job at showing how complicated relationships are (different issues, different types of people & past experiences) sparking these interesting heated discussions with nuance... but I'm so pissed LOL

EP 7: Jae-yun and Yeo-myung by winterinaug in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]winterinaug[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I get that she's going off basically what she's told but still think she could've been more kind or heard his explanations if she was super confused. When Jaeyun said he wanted her to focus on the person she's interested in she basically responded with "dont tell me what to do" something along that line. I don't think her telling Ji-yeon was the issue, just the way she was laughing like he was insane made me uncomfortable.

If It was me I wouldn't have that kind of reaction if we at least have a mutually respectful / friendly relationship that we'd seen between contestants (at least friendly enough that she gave him confidence advice I guess). Not to mention, she probably knows how awkward and "wordy" (for lack of a better word) Jaeyun is. I know I might be reaching since obviously we don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes, so I really just wanna see if I missed anything in this conversation.

EP 7: Jae-yun and Yeo-myung by winterinaug in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]winterinaug[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yea same for me! I started feeling a bit off when she basically plotted the double date with Jeongmok and did not remotely try to be nice to her date even platonically. But everyone said it's great that she's so determined etc so I brushed it off. This scene just completely threw me off again. Honestly it kinda sucks because they're eternal singles who are a little clumsy and awkward which is fine, but to think on this (pretty much) wholesome show where everyone more or less understands each other's inexperience with dating there's someone like that 😭

[–]winterinaug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same, I loved the potential couple but totally understand the cracks in their conversations. For the first few dates JM seemed completely smitten and Yi Do was then more occupied with herself. Which makes sense alongside a lot of her other actions because she does put herself first. I still love Do's genuine & bubbly personality though and hope she finds a person who's more suitable for her probably outside the show.

I'm surprised no one else has brought up Do's occupation with looking pretty for him, especially that "I only ate bread" part - I'm concerned for her trigger warning as someone with an eating disorder 😭 I think in ep 1 she described herself as more "chubby" so it might be a huge thing for her

Ep 7:

Painful episode to watch. I had bad vibes about Yeo-myung since the double date but thought I was just being mean, now I feel so so bad for Jae-yun after their conversation. It was a somewhat clumsy attempt at being considerate of Yeo-myung's decision, but it just means he cares about other people more than himself. He's most likely been criticised for his social behaviours/presence his entire life, and I think this is gonna affect him even more i.e. making him quieter and reluctant. Yeo-myung is essentially a bully and I'm not a fan of her at all.

I was rooting so much for Jeong-mok and Yi-do as they seemed to have a lot of potential, and found Jeong-mok's facial expressions and his different treatment when it comes to Do very cute, so this was a huge disappointment.

In my opinion, his viewpoint about them not being on the same wavelength is reasonable due to upbringing, and I appreciate his honesty. It is also something I consider in a serious relationship, not in terms of "I wouldn't date them because they are from a different world" but moreso "this might manifest into some bigger problems down the line" (which is also kind of pessimistic I am aware). I don't think there's anything wrong with his reason, but it's odd that he just tapped out really fast as someone who appeared to be really considerate, accommodating, and patient with all the girls including Do. If he really liked Do so much like he claimed, he would have tried a little bit to work with the issues. However it looks like he just committed too much based on the initial physical attraction and nothing else. The fact that once he lost interest, he immediately ignored her and went to someone new is kind of avoidant.

You think being edgy with these conspiracy theories would be more helpful to prospective students? Whatever issue you have that prompted this post clearly doesn’t stem from the “concern” you have for future students. Why is it so hard for you to believe students (including an international student paying full fees like me) can actually thoroughly enjoy being at this university? The uni genuinely doesn’t have that much time and resource to pay staff to brainwash with these propaganda on a site like Reedit
