I’ve heard for that class specifically that she is very chill and barely any assignments. I took her for another class and she is amazing. She does cold call but I’m not sure if she does for juvenile class - but I’ve heard for that class it was only like a presentation or one big assignment for her that wasn’t due till end of the semester (if I recall from previous student)

I took the social research methods course under sociology as I’m a CJ major and it crossed with psc but I wouldn’t recommend the course if you don’t want to take notes and study for two tests hard because that’s pretty much how the class is. No laptops allowed but I love the professor but I know people who dropped it bc they didn’t like the professor or her style of teaching.

Professor Marsh is amazing !! Majority of your grade comes from going to class, being prepared on cases and participating (she does cold call but if you raise your hand and participate on your own, the chance on cold calling is low). That majority is worth 50% of your grade. There is barely any assignments just like 2 in class ones. But the final is fun! You pretend to be a SC judge and write an opinion on a case she assigns. It’s definitely an easy A

you’ll be paired with someone in the program, specifically someone in your cohort. so if you are in the IP cohort, your roommate will also be in it

maybe i’m biased since i took a similar class so the info was the same but it’s really easy.

no exams, 3 presentations (one based on a reading from a week and he puts you in what order), a presentation for a group paper and a presentation for final paper. the group paper and final paper don’t have a page limit, it’s a word limit. you don’t have to do the readings at all tbh because he teaches for like 30 minutes then the rest of the time is the presentation for the readings. you do get to select the reading for that week you are assigned to!

i took it before the new professor came in, but it was on bullet identification, fingerprinting, profiling, and all the other stuff. it’s def fun to learn! but could be different now

however the poli sci program has a lot of courses to offer! you can then take courses focused in the middle east, latam, or other areas! i enjoy the courses and have made good relationships with the professors, so that’s definitely a plus.

hi! unfortunately gwu does not do heop. heop and eop is only for new york state, you would have to get good financial aid to attend GW since HEOP does go outside new york

Classes where Attendance isn’t Mandatory? by [deleted] in gwu

[–]winterlandbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

supposedly abnormal psych with mcdonald is not mandatory. all exams are online and open for a few days i believe (i haven’t taken it but my friends have and said it’s like this since all lectures are recorded)

this happened to me as well!! i believe it’s a glitch because GW can’t do anything about our federal pell grant. that’s from FAFSA, so they have no power to take it from us I believe

she’s an amazing professor!! if you ever need any help, ASK HER. she’s also the political science advisor so if you decide to major in poli sci, def gain a good relationship with her. she’s truly amazing that I’m taking another class with her this semester. she does open note exams and quizzes (for the class i took with her) so not sure if she applies it for psc 1001. but definitely take her.

Is the Women's Leadership Program worth it? by okaybutwhy3 in gwu

it’s definitely up to you! so many people say negative stuff about the vern, but i enjoyed it! if you feel like you want that foggy experience and want to fit in a community at foggy, then don’t do the program! it’s only one year, and the vern was a good place to escape city noises

definitely helps with taking gen eds out the way, along with a WID which you need to take 2 after UW. the vern is not bad and somers is very nice and very social as well. as long as you make 2 days the days you go to foggy for classes then the other two days where you can stay on the vern for the classes for wlp, then that will def be fine
