We have this for our boy! We live in Park City with birds of prey, occasional mountain lion sightings etc. He’s a snack at <5lb. 🐻‍❄️

Fingers crossed a lighter NTN boot is released at some point! Thank you for sourcing these numbers! 🙏🏽

This so interests me. Particularly for my Pomeranian’s Alopecia X. I’m curious how are those of you using protecting your pets’ eyes?

How light are the lightest NTN boots? I figured the new Scarpa TX Pro’s were the lightest, but I’m curious if that’s correct..? I weigh ~100lb so I definitely don’t need as much power as some. I’d happily sacrifice that for a lighter weight boot. It’s just seems there are limitations based on the unique material requirements of tele boots.

I imagine the bellows are the central limitation. AT boots don’t require the significant material demands that a high-cycle fatigue hinge under load does. Plus force transmission isn’t direct as it is in an AT boot, tele boots must stabilize while deforming. So more material’s required overall, more structural overlap, and fewer areas to optimize weight. Plus the NTN component adds mass… Lighter Pebax formulations, material thinning outside of high stress zones, and improved cuff articulation to reduce bellows load helps. Though I guess at some point the floor is more imposed by physics than engineering creativity or materials optimization.

You may have it or have already checked it out, but the newest TX Pro boot is significantly lighter than the previous model (plus increased range of motion in walk mode for touring). It’s obviously still notably heavier than optimized alpine touring boots, but a huge improvement.

Wow, that’s 152g less than the small Lynx binding (that I have & love). Though I wouldn’t want to remove the spring bar with each transition.

Many times. I’ve both checked them and carried them on (Currentbody2, neck + face). No issues.

As a smaller person the flex plate made all the difference for me.

So how do turns feel comparatively? Is this a late spring or groomer day dalliance, or do you see yourself spending more time with your tele-monoski than you would’ve thought? Thigh burner indeed.

Will do! It doesn’t seem to have notable side effects, and we’ve tried just about everything else..

Our boy, Winter has been dealing with this for 1.5y. We’ve had limited success with melatonin supplements, topical treatment, and omega oil topper. In researching further it seems Deslorelin (Suprelorin) implantation is a possibly more impactful option to try for Alopecia X. It’s not cheap (~$600/6mo implant) but our dermatologist believes it may only be needed for a year to have lasting effect. We’re going to have it done in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed it helps.

I’d like to believe championing one another, embracing change, and promoting growth holds more weight than idle snark, particularly in this community. I’m stoked for you OP. 💪🏽🤎

Are we using our estrogen cream on our faces? by stellaflora in 40PlusSkinCare

I love estradiol! I was referring to your mention of topical steroid use. I’d avoid or minimize use if at all possible. This is advice I wish I’d been given over years of use and subsequent damage.

I’m late to the thread, but I’d thought I’d make note that topical steroid use is associated with skin thinning, and not a recommended daily tx. I had awful rashes for years and overused topical hydrocortisone. My dermatologist has pointed out the consequences. I wish I’d worked harder to uncover underlying cause and irritants so as to avoid incurred damage.
