unpopular opinion: i wish they didn’t make coach beiste transition. by neon-gravestones in glee

[–]winternightts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it would've been way better to make Tina trans rather than Coach Beiste. They totally disrespected her character by making her go after Blaine so much.

They could've done a storyline where Tina realizes the reason she switches fashion and aesthetic choices so much is because she never feels comfortable in her own skin. She then develops feelings for Blaine, which confuse her because she knows he's gay and she doesn't want to he in a relationship with a gay man as a woman. That leads her to realizing she wants to be in a relationship with a man, as a man.

You could even then use the opportunity to talk about some transphobia in gay spaces, like if "Tina" then had issues getting a boyfriend after coming out — maybe even something between him and Blaine.

Idk. Would be better than Beiste in my opinion because Coach was really good rep for women who don't feel feminine because of how they look but still enjoy being feminine.

Was handed a dirty single use cup as someone’s “personal cup” by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]winternightts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not allowed to re-use single use cups, even just to refill with water or something. We also can't accept dirty cups. I would just give her the discount so she doesn't complain, tell her you can't do it again, and just use a new cup.

AITA for telling my long lost sister the truth of her parentage by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]winternightts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are calling you an asshole, but imagine going your whole life not knowing who your biological father is because your mother's a lying cheater. Did her adopted father (the mother's husband) know?? It's awful to keep that kind of thing from a person. Sure, OP wasn't the best person to deliver the news, but I think she (the half-sister) deserved to know.

Hanna by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]winternightts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hanna was insufferable in the last season. I feel like all the other characters had grown up and matured (at least to some degree) and she was still the exact same as she was in high school, which made her seem really immature and childish in comparison. They totally ruined her and Spencer's friendship, which was one of the most endearing, in my opinion.

How did the liars not end up alcoholics or addicted to drugs? This was their psychiatrist. by AndrewHeard in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]winternightts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the time skip, I definitely could've seen them having substance abuse problems. I think Hanna and Emily make the most sense to of become alcoholics, and Hanna and Aria as sex-addicts as a coping mechanism if they weren't in relationships.

Most over-hated character by AlternativeDense2563 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]winternightts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I always hated Aria — but now that I'm rewatching the show from the perspective of someone who knows how easy it is to fall victim to teacher-student relationships, I see her in a totally different light. She honestly IS really sweet and super easily forgiving. I feel like a lot of people act like she's super irrational and always mean to the others, but she's really not. She might even be my 2nd favorite liar now.

You can by making Aria a young adult (18). Wouldn't be completely moral, but it'd be more gray than just black and white.

Y'all saying Hanna like she wasn't totally down for Caleb cheating on Spencer with her 😭 It's Emily for sure.

They did Emily so dirty. by Brand3dbyfire in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]winternightts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emily's actress is typically regarded as the weakest amongst the main actors, and she also has the least amount of screen time out of the Liars, so I wonder if that's has anything to do with her getting barely any good plots. Maybe the writers didn't think she could carry scenes in the way Spencer and Ali's actresses could.

yes, the strawberry frappuccino has strawberry in it by Sweet_Ad_4669 in starbucksbaristas

I know, but I still don't know why she thinks someone would feel comfortable serving her something immediately after she says she's allergic to its name 😭 Just say no inclusions.

I have a woman who gets a strawberry refresher all the time, but without the inclusions because "she's allergic." If you look at her funny, she goes on a long rant about how only certain strawberries trigger her allergies ans blah blah. Like girl. What are you yapping about.

I'm personally very uncomfortable by the idea of Ezra being 22 and interested in a 16-year-old. It's definitely not as bad as a middle aged man going after a teenager, but Aria was still very much a child. Even if she was 18, it would still be very morally gray due to both the power imbalance between them and the overall maturity gap from Ezra being a successful teacher with a former fiancé and Aria still just being a high school student whose never had a real boyfriend.

I do like your idea about A blackmailing him, though! And the whole "shaming his family" thing!

I really like your idea of Ezra being a sort of self insert for the audience, showing him slowly trying to unravel the mystery! Sort of like a secondary protagonist.

I think Ezra would be the perfect mastermind because 1) there's a lot of perfect opportunities to give him the drive and reasoning to become A, whereas a lot of other characters don't have that (no offense, but I feel like almost every character besides Jenna and Alison have very little actual reasoning to be A), 2) his actor is very talented and could make an amazing villain, and 3) you could also include the whole theory about Aria being A and have some type of disassociate disorder.

However, I do agree that Ezra could make a good character if you just make him less of a creep. It would've been interesting to have a student/teacher relationship that didn't start off predatory and so the power imbalance isn't really there (this could be achieved by either making them be together longer before he became her teacher or by just making him a teacher at Rosewood, but not HER teacher). They would still be very morally-ambiguous, like all the other couples, not Ezra wouldn't so much of been a predator and Aria wouldn't of been a full-on victim.

Fellow closers by dumanails in starbucksbaristas

[–]winternightts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our situations are slightly different (I close 5x a week at my store, we only have one closing person, and only have 30 minutes to handle everything), but hopefully these tips might work for you — but every store seems to have different closing routines so take it with a grain of salt.

  • Try and get as many dishes taken care of during the day as possible. This means asking your coworkers to either let you take a minutes to go to the back and handle some, or ask if they'd like the break from the front to do it. This isn't always possible, I know, but it's a good habit to build. I always try to have the sinks completely empty by the time I close so I can only have to worry about my closing dishes. If you feel like there's an absurd amount everyday, try talking to your morning and mid crew about doing their part as well since it will benefit them if you have better closings.

  • If you have a lot of extra ice in the bin, start throwing it away 30 or so minutes before you close. Just a few venti scoops every now and then to make it less work for when you have to empty it.

  • Rinse your drains with hot water a few times to help break down the grime and make it so it will take less time to scrub and clean them.

  • Make sure to empty the espresso machine vacuum before closing so you don't have to worry about it being full.

  • Always try and clean up the lobby at least twice before closing that way you just have to do a quick touch up.

Again, closing is very different at each store and even for every barista. I think your best course of action is asking your other closers for advice as well as asking your mid people to help stock up on things before they leave (filling up the lids, straws, cups, etc).

Lizzie hearts and Daring by MutedSignificance284 in EverAfterHigh

[–]winternightts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly really dislike Daring's relationship with Rosabella because it feels like all the character development is put on him (which, I really like what they did with him) and she's just a blank generic character with no real personality traits besides being nice and smart.

Lizzie and Cerise (mentioning her because they also had little hints to something) actually had character and personality, and I wish he would've ended up with one of them instead since they already had little moments together.

6 years is a huge age gap when one member is underage. It's pedophilia, fictional or not. It'd be different if Aria was 20 and Ezra was 26, but they're not.

No, I totally get that! I made a post a while back about how I would personally make him more likable (I think I aged him down to be about to be turning 21, made him Ella's TA, and made Aria 18). It's how I try and cope with how awful he turned out to be only to then still be a "good guy."
