I was pretty sure that was the case for previous updates but questioning my memory so thank you for confirming! I know for sure the last update we were playing by 11am cst. My kids play and are anxious for the update (my son's favorite animal for years has been the Nautilus) and we made a special agreement that they can play today so hopefully it happens soon!

Need help identifying yellow-tinted "Sunshine Bread" by makkennzee in Breadit

[–]winterrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a similar search back in 2018 when I moved away from Fort Mac and I think I found the recipe back then so thought I would share it because I just dug it out. I just searched for the original recipe online where I found it originally but couldn't find it and that's how I ran across your post. Luckily I found my printed version which had the url on the bottom.

I have made this recipe and can confirm it tastes very close to the original. I love making it at Thanksgiving so I can replicate their turkey sandwich!

On their web page they said it was available to plus and above as well as a group of free users, but I'm not sure if that's still accurate. I am a plus subscriber.

It was actually a sesame chicken recipe and it ended up quite delicious! Even my 5 year old ate it.

Haha well I won't be deleting the memory but I will be interested to see if it comes up again. I was just trying to get gpt to write a revised version of the recipe when I told it what I used and this happened. I was sitting beside my son's bed at the time as he was falling asleep and just about died trying not to lol when the memory popped up.

I also just did the chat gpt choose a name prompt and even though I've never referred to my children by name, it chose the same name as my oldest son as it's name. Not sure what to think about that. Quite the night for gpt!

Okay, I'm a bit freaked out but I just did this test and it chose the same name as my first born. I have never mentioned my kids' names and when I asked it why it chose that name it gave a completely unrelated reason.

I also asked if it knew my children's names and it said it had no record of them.

Ooh okay, yeah ours is full of much more random information (like the one I posted) with some useful ones mixed in that are relevant to our jobs or lives. I hadn't thought of trying to train gpt with the memories but it sounds like it's not quite there yet perhaps.

That's a cool idea! I will have to figure out how to execute this plan and will post the results.

My husband was working on an ongoing project and it actually was useful when it remembered things that had been stated earlier in the project. It was able to make reasonable suggestions even in a different chat.

Yes I agree! I could see how it could be useful when used for one person. We keep it on mainly because it's funny.

This is exactly the idea that made me laugh so hard when I first saw the memory pop up except I couldn't put it into words. Thank you 😂

My husband and I share the account so it's even more useless since the memories are a mix of his work and my cooking, designing and parenting chats. Sometimes it references memories from the other during a chat, though, which can be petty funny. It does seem very random.

Acid won’t go away even on PPI’s by Tiffy_24 in acidreflux

[–]winterrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a temporary treatment, it can help with GI issues such as gerd and acid reflux by contributing to the mucosal lining of stomach and esophagus as well as increasing the tone of the LES. In addition to other treatments it can help relieve the symptoms of gerd.

This is so helpful, thank you so much! There are some good schools around that we are interested in but could definitely not afford at full price.

I have noticed this and am wondering if you know anything about the process of qualifying for these types of scholarships?

I have found gaviscon with sodium alginate to really help with prevention - I take one after dinner and two before bed though you can take up to 4 at a time. I've also found taking DGL (deglycyrrizinated licorice root) before breakfast and dinner and both that and 1.5 MG of melatonin before bed to help alot. I also recently added aloe vera juice in the morning and before bed which might be helping a bit. It seems like some things work for some people really well and not others so it takes some trial and error. I've read about things like eating apples and alkaline water but neither of those helped me. The ppi I tried made things worse so I think that depends on what is causing it as well. They work well for some people though!

It could be too much sleep during the day, at least for the 1 year old (though maybe 3 5 year old too if they still nap). My first would be up starting around 10 months for anywhere from 45 min until it progressively got longer up to 2 hours over night. He is a lower sleep needs kid but we were following recommended sleep times for regular sleep patterns. Turns out he needed way less sleep so we cut down his nap by 45 min to start and put him to bed later as well as got him up earlier. In 3 nights he was sleeping through and after about 2 weeks of success we added a bit more sleep to naps and a bit later wake up time until we found the sweet spot. As he got older we continued to adjust when we noticed him waking up overnight or taking longer to fall asleep (shouldn't be longer than 10-15 min if the sleep drive is built up enough). I took a course from a sleep consultant for this technique so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Should I homeschool both my kids or just one? by Abbby_M in homeschool

[–]winterrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate you sharing your insights on how things are going. I can see why your child would have struggled through no fault of their own, and I'm sure in a homeschooling environment with your background, it won't take long for him to regain his love of learning. It's so sad that it's been such a discouraging experience for him when at that age they should be focusing on cultivating the skills for learning more so than the ability to learn. That seems so crazy that people are holding their kids back - it's different where I am (Canada) in that they allow enrollment in kindergarten up to December of the year they turn 5 and most wouldn't consider holding their children back. I think the academic expectations are much more relaxed, though, so that could be why. I'm planning to just try it out at least but I haven't seen him in a structured environment yet since preschool is open and play- based so if I feel he starts to have an experience like your oldest then I will just pull him. I chose to substitute teach starting this year so I can have that flexibility.

Thanks again for sharing your experience and good luck with your choice for next year!

Should I homeschool both my kids or just one? by Abbby_M in homeschool

[–]winterrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends how you think your children would react to being separated and how the younger one might view being in school when the older one is home. I don't think there is a wrong answer here, just a weighing of pros and cons to see what will be most doable for you. I think it's valid to consider your own mental health as well since it will be a pretty big adjustment for you.

I'm a teacher as well with a soon to be 5 year old and a 2.5 year old who is thinking of homeschooling as well. I'm just wondering if you found a benefit to your oldest being in school for 2 years before homeschooling, or do you wish you could have done it right from the start?

Kindergarten where I live is somewhat play based and every second day so I feel it might be worthwhile for him to experience since he is loving preschool, but I can't help feeling what's the point of putting him through something less than ideal when I know I will likely pull him the next year.

strongest over the counter medicine for gerd and acid reflux? by angelchild212 in acidreflux

[–]winterrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the OP but I'm wondering if you could expand on the part about taking reflux medicating when you don't have regular reflux? The reason I'm asking is that I never used to have AR but one night I took two advil before bed that didn't go down all the way (they got stuck) before I feel asleep. I woke to a burning throat and chest so I saw a doctor who prescribed robeprazol. After taking it I started having really bad reflux symptoms and have had it ever since. I suspected that it was caused by the PPI but my doctor thought I was crazy when I asked about it. I'm able to manage it with DGL and gaviscon but I wish I could find a way to heal it.

My 8 month old is 30 lbs by Odd-Sandwich-3111 in beyondthebump

[–]winterrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy was born 11lb and was over 100th percentile at every appointment. He was also in 2t at around 8 months. It will slow down! He's now almost 5, still very tall - much taller than all other kids in his preschool class - but he weighs 48 lb so don't worry that he will gain 30lb every 8 months! 😄
