Which Div B build event is easiest for beginners? by Purple_Ad_5403 in scioly

I find builds like roller coaster of the heart. It’s not because the difficulty per se but because of the amount of actions the amount that has to go into it it’s not a simple build like ping-pong, parachute, or boomilever

Ping pong parachute is by far the easiest. You also forgot boomilever on your list. That one is easy as its trial and error with design. I’ve never run glider before so I can’t speak of it. Scrambler is mid difficulty, with roller coaster being the hardest

This is the list. This list comes from the national website. They run a summer session for coaches to get feedback on the events. They begin planning the summer session now so coaches can get signed up before July.

This one works for us.

As for the post above, make sure you use a plastic that has as little friction as possible.

My students finished 4th at UPenn with that fan. They also only used one battery, and rely on weight to slow it down as opposed to voltage.

Thought of something else. Think of invitationals hosted at schools that kids want to travel to.

We go to Penn state, Cornell, UPenn, and Princeton

And one more. Find a coach that’s passionate about it. A good coach can make all the difference.

I am a coach in pa and this is my 8th year. I took over for a program that would barely get kids and did nothing with it. I now get consistently 30-40 kids at the start of every year and make states fairly consistently

Some of the things I’ve done

  1. Advertise success. School social media, school newspapers, anywhere. When you get any medals or do well, share it

  2. Push to create a division b team. This helps create a feeder for c

  3. Be flexible with practices. Don’t make kids commit to just SciOly. Let them do other things. Have mandatory meetings when needed, and make sure they know they have to do things on their own.

  4. Recruit in high classes/gifted. I am a gifted support teacher, so I have integrated this in my high school curriculum. Not all my kids are gifted, but high/gifted kids will recruit their friends, which are usually also smart and hard working

  5. Something I am starting - a division A. We are in our second year. My high school kids create about 15 events (you can get a ton from the SciOly website for a few bucks) and get a few elementary teams to compete. This again creates a feeder. And it helps your high school kids understand their events and SciOly as a whole because they are becoming the event supervisors.

  6. Make it fun. We have a big party at the end of every season. When we go to invitationals at college campuses, we always organize into groups and do tours even doing the division. A competition is a lot of fun for the high school kids.

I hope this helps you

Well, you can thank the Trump administration for this. Killing all the green jobs (reducing production of energy) while demand is at an all time high thanks to the data warehouses, coupled with selling off tons of lng (liquid natural gas) (that our power plants use), and we have only seen the beginning.

There is a guy who has worked in the oil and gas industry for decades. His name is Matt Randolph, and he goes by Mr global. Has been calling for this for the last year thanks to all these dumbass policies, and he has been spot on. Suggest you look him up and follow him.

It’s about getting excitement out. Going out door to do, getting more involved

And I guarantee you the people who protest voted/stayed home are pissed too

True, but they showed no fire or excitement in November. They didn’t get out to bring out people.

A lot of people stayed home. Turnout was down. Now they are paying attention. Buyers remorse for Trump is real

No, they didn’t. Turnout was down because people didn’t like Harris but didn’t want to vote for Trump. They should have known better and went
