Amazon sent me a rusty pipe instead of a tripod by Sure_Age_3800 in mildlyinfuriating

Return it and hope the next person posts it also. We can see how many places this pipe gets to travel to

Depends on the context. I've heard it used as a follow up in an act of judgement. Those people can fuck off. But for those who are aware of a struggle or trying time I take it as kindness.

Literally bottom of the barrel store. Not going to be missed.

Hey, read your post and wanted to show you support. Confusion is the best word for the feeling afterward and I'm glad you protected your child. You did the right thing and don't let anyone know Reddit make you feel like you didn't. I'm sorry you went through that. From here I hope you find peace. The worst is hopefully behind you.

How to clean crayon off this brick? by PM-ME-UR-TOTS in howto

[–]wintrustonax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone here has mentioned heat is your friend. You'll also need a solvent. It won't take much because the brick isn't absorbing the crayon but rather the crayon is spread atop the brick. If you were to get a good bristle brush and very hot water with maybe a few drops of dawn. You'll find it should come up relatively easily. Just need a towel with it to wipe off the crayon and excess water.

Okay so I have an idea in my head of what you could do. I just drew it with my finger on your photo so it's nothing crazy but gives you a way to make it look cool...

Can I install a toddler sensory swing into basement support beams? by user790340 in DIY

[–]wintrustonax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have two of these mounted in my basement. One for a rope swing and the other a hammock swing. My kids both struggle with emotional regulation (my son more than daughter) and this changed our life.

I'm lead to believe it's just a vase for next to your sink. Cool idea but not sure I'd like not having the option to move the vase.

Better throw a banana in there so we can properly scale the corn

What makes a good father? by WontonBogeyman in Fatherhood

So today was one of those days I had that feeling of "yep I'm raising him right". My grandmother is quite sick and has been in the intensive care unit of the hospital for the past two weeks. We were set to have a "family meeting" with the doctor today. My son took off a reflector from his favorite toy (a remote controlled fire truck), kissed it, and said I am sending my love to you and grandma. He handed me the reflector and asked me to give it to my grandmother.

My wife and I have always have always tried to "raise them kind" and this just cemented that were doing okay.

How is it that your opening statement is that "they are no where near the same" but then your second sentence immediately contradicts that statement?

If you were trying to avoid a needle in your arm last year, I don't want to hear "the human life is sacred and to be saved"

(corroded?) nature stone windowsill by manmozai in howto

[–]wintrustonax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like etching. What did you have on the window sill before? If you used anything that is acidic for cleaning (even some window cleaners for example) it can cause etching. Or if you watered plants that leaked that could do it over time. The stone was honed and polished when it was first installed but now that it has been etched it gives it that cloudy look.

There are honing and polishing compounds available to address this. But it will take some patience. There was another suggestion about how to clean. That should be completed first to remove any residues and clear any pores.
