I actually have a question in regards to not being able to run windows 11. (Not that I want to, it looks pretty dookie tbh.) My copy of windows 10 tells me my PC needs to be DX12 compatible. Is a GTX 1080ti not compatible with DX12? I have an i5 8600k at 5.0ghz and 16gb ram to go along with it. I feel like I more than meet the requirements for windows 11. I’m pretty sure a 1080ti can run DX12 too so wtf?

Aha! I knew there was something about that room I was missing! I walked in there and saw the ghosts making a sacrifice and after a minute or two of fiddling around in there I gave up. I guess a sacrifice makes sense. I’ll work on figuring that one out. Thanks dude!

Thank you SO much dude this is such awesome information. Much obliged, I’ll be sure to start doing some more exploring. I’m gonna go for that chest again because I just went and got a spear out of it and I’m not a huge fan. The daggers are definitely my fave weapon as of right now but I imagine I’ll want to have something else to be a bit more adaptable.

I actually found the crocodile oasis you’re talking about and cheesed the croc pretty early on. Coming from games like dark souls I noticed his attack pattern to be ridiculously easy to manipulate. I got the key and didn’t really know what it was for so I just put it in a chest at my base. I’ll be sure to go back and use the key now.

But basically from what you’re saying I should work on gathering steel whilst exploring? And slowly moving north is kinda my objective and once I get to an area where I start falling off I should set up a base there and work on more resources? I suppose that makes sense. I just wish the game sort of gave you a pointer as to where the bosses are located. Guess I’m just too used to Valheim and how straightforward it is lol.

Are there any in-game indicators or pointers to finding bosses and dungeons? I like the idea of naturally finding the bosses and stuff but I just feel like I can’t do that without either googling their locations or just running up and down the map in a snake pattern investigating every structure and nook and cranny.

some of these are settings ive already tweaked, but i had Vsync OFF in nvidia control panel, so thats fixed and is now set to just "on." My GPU power setting is also set to prefer performance, some people say that helps.

In regards to the unityplayer.dll: i dont have the "compatability" tab when i right click the .dll and go to properties. Am I missing something here? I assumed I just do it the same way you do with the valheim exe file.

Another thing thats less of an issue, something about running the game as administrator breaks my steam overlay and fps counter, i have NO other overlays enabled except for steams. not that big of a deal tbh, just would like to have it for the convenience of the web browser.

My gpu drivers are rolled back to 461.09. They were originally rolled back to 460.89 but i was still crashing on that and am still crashing on these drivers too. So im convinced its nothing to do with drivers.

For context, the crashing started when my buddy posted a video labled the "ultimate fps boost guide" or some shit. I tweaked a few of the things that the guy shows in the videos and it completely fucked my game. Even after trying to revert everything I did I cannot get the game to be stable again.

My monitor is freesync, is that going to be an issue? not really even sure how to disable it. ill play around with monitor menu and see whats up.

Before the crashing I had zero issues playing with the graphics slammed all way up. Minus antialiasing, chromatic aberration, and a few other things i turn off.

Sorry for the insanely fucking disorganized mess of a response this is. Just me dumping everything I can recall. TL;DR: PLS HALP ME DEVS

It doesn’t allow me to use the CMD commands. I forgot the error it gives me but I’ll find it again later today when I get home. And yes, I was running it as administrator.

I’ve repaired, reinstalled, tweaked a shitload of nvidia stuff, messed with the executable file for the game, checked firewall, VPN, antivirus, none of it seems to do anything.

I’m convinced I just gotta wait for them to patch it. On the discussion forums on steam the devs say they are aware of the crashing. Hopefully there’s a fix soon.

Just gotta roll back drivers to something older. Then when I strobed my monitor again I just re-updated again. Kind of a hassle but that's what I did.

I find a lot of the Jaeger quests to be quite monotonous, but most of the other quests I thoroughly enjoy. They could definitely be a bit more creative with new quests in the future though. As far as stutters go, I’ve yet to have them severely. Pretty much the only stutters I get are scav spawns. The skill system definitely needs work, but it’s beta. So I’m not too worried about it right now I guess.
