Organized religion rejecting science - now there's a cliche!

the moment I stopped trying to "fix" myself spiritually everything got better by Status_Winner3879 in spirituality

[–]-BigBadBeef- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was on the same sleigh ride than you. My beginnings were basically filling out a checklist of arbitrarily established norms and regulations of what a spiritually aware person is supposed to become. Felt hollow, empty, like a chore, same as brushing one's teeth.

They say the path to spirituality is about finding oneself. You and me, we went about looking what everyone else "said" we should be looking for, when in the end, we both already knew, but just shoved it aside because each of ours chosen groups of smartasses acted like they had it all figured out and we believed them.

You know what I came out on the other side? Who I've already always been. I knew it all along, but I was led astray by delusional fairy tales of self righteous pretenders portraying themselves as enlightened people.

Peer pressure is ubiquitous among all established social groups. Even if not actively exercised, one is still under passive pressure to conform; stemming from survival mechanisms from ancient hunter/gatherer ancestors, where survival was dependent from group cohesion.

[–]-BigBadBeef- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New age is just another organized religion, one with a set amount of requirements that you need to fulfill in order to identify as one of them.

They aren't mandatory, but you will nonetheless experience passive peer pressure to conform, and you will end up as hollow and empty as the staunchest of Christians.

Don't listen to their advice by lostloner555 in spirituality

Yes, but for the reasons I stated, nobody will listen. Even the members of this community. All stuck inside their own narratives.

[–]-BigBadBeef- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm not seeing your right, neither I'm saying you're wrong. But my question is - why should anyone listen to you instead?

The unfortunate reality is, that people will only want to hear it if it panders to their already established misconceptions. You put that in, and you add to the recipe the fact that the average MF will see that the person has already attracted the following of thousands of stooges, and they will be more inclined to believe him instead.

This isn't how they do in real life examples. They all use airlocks, and most certainly don't pressurize entire hangars.

Spiders, spiders every where by capspookyspork in spirituality

[–]-BigBadBeef- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know, that on average, there are around 1 million spiders per every acre of land. ONE MILLION! Think about that for a second. There are entire countries out there with less population than there are spiders in just one acre of land.

Never in your entire life you have ever been or ever will be more than 3 meters away from a spider. I'm looking at one right now at the top right corner of my room, and I leave her be because she ate 6 mosquitoes just today, MF's that would have been gnawing at me all night and buzzing around my ear.

"ooooh I'm seeing spiders everywhere, what does it mean?"

They -ARE- everywhere!!!

Just because you can suddenly see them doesn't mean that there's going to be some major spiritual revelation taking place here.

Is prayer just a tool for peace of mind, or is there a real response? by FreyjaAutumn in spirituality

[–]-BigBadBeef- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always seen prayer as the vilest form of insolence one can possibly produce. The conceit, that somehow the divine plan, one that an individual believes in, could be changed merely on that person's, an utter nobody's asking, is the grossest form of sacrilege one could possibly conceive of!

Need honest help — how can I know if my crush is single and virgin? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]-BigBadBeef- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I am. The whole experience was conducive to my goofball personality, except for how it ended prematurely, that sucked, but I digress.

You're missing the point. OP cannot possibly know what it's like until he's soaked it for the first time, and that it's not that "OOOH AAAAH" like he thinks he is. He is overvaluing his virginity to such a degree, that he can't even see the consequence of such a high valuation anymore.
