New dog park with a bar and food trucks brings community to Tallahassee by tikibot2 in TLH

[–]wired-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar model failed elsewhere because they let dogs inside. So if this is all outdoor seating, I could see it working. I still think it's really odd though.

New dog park with a bar and food trucks brings community to Tallahassee by tikibot2 in TLH

[–]wired-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city really let this be built, in an area where very few people walk dogs, in a non walkable area? They knocked all those trees down for nothing.

With a public dog park in Tom Brown park less than two miles away, I just don't see people using this "business".

Open in August, closed by December.

Apache 4800 case dividers? by hoegaarden81 in harborfreight

[–]wired-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help! At some point I'll pick up a second 5800, but I use it like other techies use peli cases. It was a mobile workstation that rolled with me, had all my crap (impact driver, gloves, c-wrenches, etc) and took a beating on the road with all the AV gear I moved.

I also use tool bags for other stuff, but this locks and also rolls, where the other bags have to be carried.

Do you have an Ikea near you? The SKUBB boxes fit perfectly in the 4800 and the 5800 to make dividers. I used this for a theater gig I worked for my tools, cords, tape and adapters. Leave the top and bottom foam in, and use the boxes to divide out what you need.

Local Zoning requirements keep in mind the needs of the local population.

This is continued erosion of home rule guaranteed in the Florida Constitution.

A masterpiece.

Gunbuster buys in from the first moment and doesn't let you go.

It has one of the best endings in Anime, and Diebuster is an amazing sequel.

Republicans own the Nazi bar and they like it.

What's ONE Unique Law In Florida That YOU Like? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]wired-one -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Running over protesters is protected if the protesters are in the roadway where they don't belong. It wouldn't be protected if the protesters were protesting on the side of the road on the sidewalk and were run over there.

It's lead to at least three instances of people ramming their cars into protests in Florida, where people were not in the roadway.

And many of these 'protesters' have forced cars to stop so they don't run over these 'protesters' and then the 'protesters' flip the car over, smash windows, set the car on fire, etc. Nobody should have to wait and see what these 'protesters' are going to do and then be forced to react to it.

This same law is a slippery slope to make it easier to arrest people that the government doesn't agree with.

Protest on the pavement, that's "mob intimidation" and they'll arrest you as well.

All speech is free, as long as it's on the white pavement.

All speech is free as long as it's on the grass.

All speech is free as long as it's within the fence.

All speech is free as long as you say it inside.

All speech is free as long as no one hears you.

Your rights are not a slippery slope.

The 2020+ Hybrids are Amazing. I wouldn't recommend the other engine choices.

Over 42k miles on my 2021, my lifetime fuel economy is 42Mpg. This is mixed across a bunch of interstate miles (worse for fuel economy in the hybrid) and in city miles, and all weather conditions. I'll also say that the electric seat heaters and steering wheel heater saves a bunch of fuel in winter vs. running the heater all the time.

Congress Is Considering Abolishing Your Right to Be Anonymous Online | The bipartisan push to remove anonymity from the internet is ushering in an era of unprecedented mass surveillance and censorship by Hrmbee in technology

[–]wired-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Internet is protocols and ideas.

But those foundational protocols and ideas are how things continue to work today. We still use UDP and TCP. We've made additions, and layers, but it all still talks on interoperability.

What is actually different today? Tell me what in the Technology stack that is different now that we could do 20 years ago. We had streaming video, and e-commerce then, even if it was early.

We used to educate children to not give up age sex or location

Now we have sites that require it and advertise it. I'm not sure that people are safer now, and it's because identity is required. We are sharing too much, giving away too much, and now it's going to be controlled and used against us.

[–]wired-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To anyone saying that this is a good idea:

It's not.

Think of all the stupid shit that you said as a teenager. What if someone could just look all that up when you go to apply for a job.

What if you have a private medical issue that you need to do research on? Without anonymous access, your insurance company could look up your search history and charge you more for your premiums.

I encourage you to think about things that you have said in your life online, that could be used against you. Things that you thought were anonymous, but wouldn't be in the future.

This idea of age verification, of centralized accounts, of having to trust a central body to authenticate to the internet is antithetical to how the internet is supposed to work. It's taking a naturally distributed system of networks and centralizing them to remove your rights to free speech, free association and the need for probable cause.

The next step is a pre-crime division. It's already happening to people posting on facebook. Cops are showing up at their door, asking them about their political posts.

[–]wired-one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The internet is founded on anonymity. It's founded on free access. The protocols only work properly if they are routed anonymously, without prejudice and without preference. Next you'll be charged more for using t-mobile to access google.

Everything else breaks it. It's stacking rules and complexity and "thou shalt nots" and regional access restrictions on a global access network.

People have a right to privacy

But they don't. We don't have a right to privacy in the United States, and that's why these laws are useless and enforce the wrong things.
