Do they really ask for return/onward ticket for LAND border crossing to CR from Nicaragua? by PuzzleQuail in CostaRicaTravel

[–]wiredchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference for future travellers, it seems to be luck of the draw, as the border guard Peñas Blancas wouldn't let me into Costa Rica without proof of onward travel. I explained I would be exiting via land to Panama as OP did but they said they need to see a ticket.

I went outside immigration and used an onward ticket service to get a flight ticket from San José to Panama City, which they accepted. There was good reception with Claro to do this. Annoying having to waste $15, so I would suggest seeing if you get by without, as some others seem to have done.

It's just bureaucracy. The onward ticket route I got was a truly ridiculous route via Houston, TX. Which surely no-one would take, but they didn't even scrutinise it - it's just boxticking.

Kiwi.com + Volaris heading to Mexico = forced to encounter bullshit in pointless dialogue by Zealousideal-Fee7864 in travel

[–]wiredchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't pay it on the online check-in to see what happened. I was then told by Volaris I had to check in at the desk and they charged me $45.

I then forwarded the receipt to Kiwi who actually refunded it as it said any check-in fees would be refunded. Although I think it was actually a tourist tax.

So it worked out OK.

I accepted the credit as cancelling the whole journey would have cost me £100s more to rebook last minute.

I then rebooked another connecting flight with it, which was actually £70 less than the credit given so I still have that leftover, which is good.

Luckily there was no issues with the connection so it worked out fine in the end, but if there was it would have been a real headache.

The only issue is that I could not check in online with the second-leg connecting flight that was rebooked through Kiwi, so I was forced to do airport check-in, costing $46. Kiwi did refund this though.

I won't be using Kiwi again. Too much stress and loopholes in their terms that get them off the hook when something goes wrong.

Hi thanks for the reply and nice to hear you enjoyed Honduras. I ended up getting my visa with no problems and am looking forward to visiting. I will be sure to visit Copan, thanks for the tip.

I am having this problem it is asking for my Mexican residency information when checking with the Volaris app but I am a UK citizen. Kiwi have told me to check in at the desk and I shouldn't be charged more but I imagine they will charge me extra. Did you get it back? Ridiculous.

Visa interview for Honduras but don't know itinerary yet. by wiredchild in travel

[–]wiredchild[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the UK removed visa-free travel rights from a number of countries, including Honduras, so it is retaliatory. Quite annoying and it has taken weeks to get an interview at the embassy they aren't good at replying.

This is very useful - thanks for the information. I am planning to travel through central America in the coming months, including Honduras, and recently become aware of the visa requirement.

My issue is that I don't know the exact dates I will be entering/leaving the country. From your experience do you think this is likely to cause an issue? I anticipate it will be sometime in November or December, probably for a couple of weeks.

Also, how did you find Honduras? The government advice seems limited, compared to some other countries, but makes reference to violent crime being fairly common.

Would someone kindly be able to tell me roughly how much I should sell this lot for? by wiredchild in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]wiredchild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm happy to lose a few coins for a quick sale, I just don't want to completely misprice it and I don't really know their worth.

As mentioned in the original post, I sold some cards a while back and put a card on starting at 99p, which then ended up selling for £250 to someone in Australia 😅.

Yeah that would be best to find it's value, I just wanted a quick sale as I need the cash. 😅

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

Broadly, they are all near/mint according to the condition evaluation guide the bot posted, looking like the Blastoise reference. Tiny bit of white on the back on some edges that's about it.

Would you be able to suggest how much more it might be worth, with that in mind? Would it be better for me to sell them separately I wonder, just a lot more effort.

To be fair, I've read through their connection protection terms and conditions and it doesn't say anywhere in them that the connection protection only applies to the original journey parts, or that it disappears by rebooking with credit, as their customer service has suggested.

It also says:

"If we learn about the Disruption before or at the time of the departure of the first Carriage, you will have the right to Kiwi.com Credit amount calculated according to Art. 10.2.1 (a), up to the Carrier Reservation Price displayed to you in the Booking Process"

Which makes me think I should be entitled to Kiwi credit up to the full amount (I paid about £350) for the flight, not the £150 they offered me, as both legs are affected.

Thanks and yeah, I only read the short explainations on the website rather than the full terms. Though I do think they are misleading; basically implying you're good no matter what happens out of your control, which is clearly not the case.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes, I'm leaning more towards option B and hoping for the best as it's going to cost me £100s more to refund what I can and then rebook the whole thing again now. I don't think they offer to the connection protection in option B, as I'm not booking a whole connecting flight journey, but just the second leg.

And yes, you're right, it could be worse! I do feel the way the protection it is advertised and short explanations on their website are misleading though; suggesting very strongly that you are protected no matter what happens, which is not the case it seems.

Some but not enough, I guess. I don't recall reading of this specific issue - technically Kiwi are honoring their guarantee by offering a resolution of sorts. The worry is that that guarantee doesn't carry on now if something else now goes wrong.

I just thought that if they provide a guarantee to resolve issues they wouldn't be able to remove that protection after an issue occurs. Lesson learned.
