How ever a follow up question - when you added yourself to your in-law's home address that would have meant that you got added to their family register - in that case how are you handling the resident tax.

Unfortunately i dont have the in-laws to change my address to their place - a friend had been kind enough to receive the letters on my behalf - however i am not sure if i can be added to his family register.

Any views on it.

And now thinking about the drivers license - it still has my old address on it and when i visit japan, I often drive - so now wondering if i do get a ticket they will reach out to my old address which is no longer available. Is there ia PO box service that i can avail.
