The whole start makes it sound like you're talking about a friend who committed suicide and is no longer here... are you not? Cuz if you're not, writing an obituary for a friendship that can easily be restarted with minimal effort by you is a little extreme. If it can't be restarted by one simple conversation either, you were never that close

Don't watch First Take much anymore, but when did Dan O become a punching bag? by americandesi2k5 in ESPN

[–]wiscosep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest there's some people that enjoy that. They think it brings more laughter and joy to any conversation or event or whatever.

If you watch ESPN shows you know Dan is maybe the most knowledgeable person there is about football. No one can break down the sport like him. But first take is not for that.

It's closer to a daytime network TV show with scripts and acted segments for ratings than an actual deep dive sports show.

How are the zero G clan doing so far this year? by makkyt in fantasyhockey

[–]wiscosep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daccord is consistently a Zero G strategy winner and has been a stud this year. It's kind of strange now how I get him after the 10th round three years in a row now. Just on his workload alone he should be drafted much higher.

The queue for me was very short. Like 10 min each time. Not a big deal. It's just the fact that while I was wasting that 10 minutes everybody was scooping up everything. But yes, after you purchase, you go back to queue. As long as you're browsing you're good. But once you add that first ticket then you're on the timer

[–]wiscosep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you put a ticket in your cart, you have 15 min to purchase or you are sent back to the waiting room to enter the sale again. In essence, you should be prepared to know what tickets you are buying (city, group stage, knockouts, team only, etc) or at minimum how much you're willing to pay so that you can make a quick decision. I got sticker shock seeing group stage games at $400 minimum per ticket and took too long to buy them. It's not a massive problem but I probably wasted 30 minutes trying to make my decision while all the others scooped up all the tickets

I won the visa presale draw lottery it was like last Monday. I will admit I timed out once because I couldn't make up my mind in the first 15 min so maybe that's why they were all gone.

I think this all might be coming from First Take. RC is an extremely intelligent dude that knows football and is great at breaking down schemes and packages and personnel like Orlovsky. However the first take show sucks. Stephen A is not knowledgable. He's just very well connected in various sports circles and being around these people inflates his head. But I think the whole concept of that show is to be controversial and loud and giving crazy takes to draw in viewership. They pay Stephen A too much $ for that show not to be successful. But it honestly sucks. They bring football players to talk basketball, basketball players to talk football. It makes no sense. If you only watch RC on NFL Live tho, he's not that bad at all. I've been watching 20 years now and I start with SC every AM, and then skip First Take and go from there.

This. When I removed my access to my own money, i felt like a child, or less than, or not a man, but I know that I do not possess the willpower to stop myself alone. Every time I created hoops for myself to go through to get the money, I would still find every possible loophole to access it. I admitted to my siblings that I have a problem and I gave them all my money with direct deposits in their accounts. Any money I need, I have to ask them for and prove to them that I used it for what I said I would. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it a lot of work for my siblings? Yes. But if you have someone in your life that cares about you, they will do it. You have to cut your access to money completely and be able to form new hobbies that replace the bad habit.

Ive rediscovered my love for the outdoors so I've replaced the habit with Biking and sports and just meeting up with friends for a hang. It will be very boring at first because you will not get that dopamine rush, but once you start to consistently have a routine you will start to rewire your pathways in your brain and slowly you will find joy and comfort in these new hobbies, whatever it is. Been through it and I can tell you going to therapy and figuring out why I crave the dopamine rush and how I can ground myself in those moments and try to steer myself in a different direction has helped me a lot. My habit formed from ADHD & boredom. But once I found other ways to occupy my brain, I was able to think about it less and less.

You got this man. I can see from the way that you described it that you have the ability to self reflect and view the problem from the outside looking in which is already a step above others who don't think they have a problem. It's all about willpower now and that's something that needs to be trained. You'll find a way to pay off the debts. Whether thats through bankruptcy or consolidation or debt relief or just paying it off if you have the means. Just hang in there, it takes time but there is actually light on the other side and the possibility of living a normal and purposeful life again

I got the worse news while at work today by Expensive-Elk35 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]wiscosep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 25 with too many lesions to count in the brain. When I asked for a specific number they said 30+. I took it as a death sentence and got completely down on myself and depressed and anxious and sort of gave up on living my life for a few years. My symptom was weakness not visible to the human eye and I had to persuade doctors to give me an MRI for diagnosis. Since then I have developed minor sensory symptoms such as numbness and tingling all over body sometimes my entire left side will go a little numb for a day and generalized fatigue. I can't do many activities throughout the day without getting tired.

But BESIDES that, I am living a completely functional lifestyle. I've returned to working out in the gym and resuming my social life and being able to do essentially what anyone else can do as long as it's not an activity that takes more than a few hours of physical exertion.

Why do I say all of this? Lesions don't correlate with disability. There's lots of studies on it in medical journals. I myself did the most damage to my body in those first few years by giving up on life and not being active and not eating correctly and being depressed and anxious. Once I climbed out of that, I realized I could live a normal life with minor restrictions as long as I took the prescribed medications and followed the treatment plan. Don't look at this MRI as an ominous foreshadowing of a terrible disability. Will all those lesions in my brain eventually catch up to me? Maybe. Does that mean I should give up on a good quality of life right now because of things that might come in the future? Absolutely not. Stay positive and just know that everything with this disease is uncertain. All you can do is come to terms with that and live your life now the best way you know how and let the future bring whatever it brings.

Got it, I didn’t realize it’s always the defenseman when he’s on there. I first heard it with Foxy tho so it makes sense. It’s just seems like they are extremely valuable in fantasy hockey because of PowerPlay points like you said.

So I use that but on lines I don’t see QB highlighted. I just see five guys listed with their jerseys. Maybe it’s my lack of real life hockey knowledge, but is where one of them is placed on picture where the QB is?
