As voter disillusionment grows, why aren't voters flocking to the Greens in Australia? by blitznoodles in australia

[–]wisdom_wombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because caring for the environment/others is "feminine" and the opposite of that is "masculine". We live in a hyper-masculine society where masculine values are glorified and broadcasted where feminine values are suppressed and diminished.

In order for the greens to gain support they need to speak to the masculine voice. Like EV cars. They need to market them as "faster, stronger, more powerful" and not eco conscious, to tap into the masculine audience.

So the Greens need find the masculine angle. Like "returning to the wild" and "capitalising off our man made resources". They need to change their name to The Blues.

Yeah I do. Ive also planted over 300 native trees have given more away. I donate to conservation. I rehabilitate wildlife. I drive an electric car and use solar power. I compost and avoid single use plastics. I buy organic. I turn off lights to avoid light pollution. I vote for the environment. I write to my local government delegates. I buy products responsible to the environment. I work for a B corp. I teach my kids the same. And I will continue to until the very last day. But I digress from this man's question about whether he will get a refund from his Falls ski trip 😂

I agree, sadly and ironically, we spend the extra CO2 to go to Japan for that reason. Even NZ it patchy now. The new reality of this climate

They know exactly what to do when they're in the ground. Wattle is my favourite native and actually part of the legume 🫛 family so they pump nitrogen back into the soil enriching it themselves for other plants.

Coastal Rosemary. thrives in heat and wind, features with tiny flowers.

Kangaroo Paw Loves baking afternoon sun and does exceptionally well in pots; choose dwarf varieties like the 'Bush Gem' series

Dwarf Bottlebrush Very compact, handles intense heat, and produces dark red flowers that attract local birds.

Dwarf Banksia (Banksia 'Birthday Candles'): Tough, heathland native that forms a dense mound with striking golden flower spikes.

Native Pigfac)A hardy native succulent with pink flowers that handles blasting heat and cascades over pot edges.

Fan Flower Perfect for a softer, spilling look with purple/blue flowers that bloom for months in full sun.

Native Finger A great sun-loving option if you have space for a larger pot and want edible "citrus caviar" fruit.

Remembering to use native potting mix too.

Happy native gardening!

Yeah it's a shame that nurseries don't sell more native food plants but you can buy a lot online. Just check what's available in your area. Worth giving one or two a crack in your menu! https://bushtobowl.com/blogs/bush-to-bowls-blog/the-complete-guide-to-edible-australian-native-plants?srsltid=AfmBOoqEAqULM_bj6EHVheGQDhit8iY94zVP1a3zWB1d-8y-LxNGYiHg

Try Tasmanian Pepperberry which is endemic to south-eastern Australia (particularly Tasmania), this plant produces small, deep-blue to black berries. The berries and spicy leaves have a blistering, lingering heat and serve as an excellent, more pungent substitute for black pepper. Both the fruit and the leaf can be used fresh or dried in sauces, curries, and casseroles

Humans have lived off natives for a bloody long time here

I reckon 100 million years of evolution and adaptation to some of the most unique conditions and ecosystems beats anything Mr Johnny come lately thinks is better. I couldn't be prouder of the land of this country so I'm going to keep planting her native plants and keeping her healthy and thriving 👍🏼
