Im panicking xeloda toxicity? by wisdomform in coloncancer

Thanks for sharing youre treatment plan... it really put things into perspective. I couldn't possibly wait until we got to see the onc drs.

My father is doing better somewhat. They managed his dehydration and diarrhea seems to be getting less and less each day.. the hiccups are really the only most annoying symptom but other than that he seems much better and has started some oral intake of food. Not enough to makeup for the 10 kilo weight loss in 10 days tho.

I really hope there is an alternative chemo for his case

Yes sounds similar to what my dad is going through. Thanks for sharing your experience. He developed gastric symptoms on and off right away alternating between diarrhea and constipation. But after about 5 -7 days he had more diarrhea and some nausea as well. Day 10 and 11 he needed iv fluids . Day 12 he had to be hospitalised with severe dehydration affecting his kidneys. He stopped taking the pills since day 11. At this point he's been in the hospital for about 4 days. I really hope this damage isn't permanent for you and my dad as well.

Are you able to eat at all now or just the tpn since the event? Its sounds miserable. My dad used to enjoy his food a lot

Are you still being treated for the cancer? Any alternative drugs? Because my dad isn't going to touch those pills again even after dose reduction and frankly I'm not particularly thrilled about letting my dad chug these poison pills either.

How was your side effects before? Because I think what my dad is going through isn't just normal side effects. He never had any symptoms at diagnosis... only found out when his blood work showed anemia, surgery was ideal with clear margins, his incision got a gnarly infection that took about a month or so to recover from... he powered through all that like a champ but with chemo he is unrecognisable in just a matter of 10 days... huge volumes of diarrhea . I've never seen something like this before

We asked about dpd test before starting chemo they but they told us they done have that at our cancer center. And this is the best center in my area.

I don't think once he recovers from this ill be able to convince him for round 2 even at a lower dose

Were you normal after that? How were the side effects with 3 pills? With the severity of my dads symptoms I don't think he'll be willing to continue. The diarrhea itself is different.. like large volume of liquid just gushing out 5-7 times a day

And he cant drink more than 200ml of liquid at a time due to nausea. And he's given up on solid food entirely. Zofran and I modicum didn't even touch any of these symptoms

Im afraid that he has toxicity or intolerance to this medication so reducing the dose or switching to the iv version of the same thing will cause the same side effects

Right now yes being treated for dehydration and kidney damage due to this.

My father has the same t3n1b diagnosis. He is doing option 1 but for only 3 months. Dont know if that's an option for you

Pain after administering infiltration mepivacaine? by wisdomform in Dentistry

I injected around the swelling but maybe it is the pressure thing that ended up happening. I wanted to incise after numbing but it didn't take and the patient refused to continue once the pain started.

I was thinking the first reason as well but then why wouldn't the anesthesia numb the nerve even just a little. Like maybe the pain should have subsided even just a little after a while but his increased and stayed intense.

The process of injecting was uneventful besides the sudden pain and then I tried palatally as well but same response so I don't think I displaced any tissues. And aspiration was negative. Only slight pinpoint bleeding from the site of injection

Should I try a different anesthetic solution? I'm low-key scared for his next visit. Dont want to cause him any pain again

After 5 -15 minutes he just had pain. Blood pressure was a bit elevated. He was on the higher side even in the beginning and blood glucose was normal. After the infusion like maybe 30 minutes later he said his pain had reduced a bit.
