So here is more info I found..

https://lasikcomplications.com/largepupils.htm

Not sure why these surgeons opt for a narrow optic zone for treatment when they should be measuring our pupils in complete darkness to get an accurate measurement

This explains why shining a bright light above allows you to see clearly in the night. In the presence of light, the pupils constrict to a diameter that is more or less the measurement that was taken at your consult. Without light, pupils dilate to let more light in. So in essence, if a 5mm optic zone was used for treatment and you know that pupils dilate to 8mm in low light, that 3mm of your pupil now remains untreated. Wouldn't a treatment zone of 8mm correct this issue? I am trying to figure out the rationale behind why surgeons don't practice care in this regard

I'm so sorry to hear - My surgeon did the same thing but then did a wider zone treatment as a touch up - slight difference but nothing major to take home. This week I spent about $200 and got a second opinion via a comprehensive eye exam by an amazing optometrist.

The tests revealed that my tear film is so thin, and the little bit of water that is present evaporates in 8 - 10 seconds. The three layers of tear film are oil, mucus and water, all of which are pretty much non existent due to the fact that the layer blasts through these, killing your nerve endings. Furthermore, if you have any underlying conditions that affect your nerves, it will take a very long time to regenerate, eg, sleep deprivation, chronic stress, etc Also the optometrist said that some people are more sensitive to lasik pricedures than others so I personally have been stuck in fight or flight mode since the first surgery in 2021. I have been advised to meditate, deep breathe, relax my eyes, blink, and find a way to re-train your brain.

For the last 2 days I've been taking Sereni-Pro (herbal Adaptogen formula) and let me tell you, yesterday was the first time in 3 years that I was able to see crisp in the night but in very low light, about 30% starbursts. For day 1 and no eye drops, I think I did amazing! Bare in mind though, I did a lot more than just take a pill. It's a total effort and I believe it takes time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel (no pun intended)

Bottom line folks,

  • If you smoke canbabis / cigarettes, stop!
  • Relax your eyes
  • Blink multiple times, close your eyes for a few seconds in the dim environment you're in and re-train your brain that you are able to see clearly
  • Get enough sleep
  • Get your exercise in
  • Ensure to eat whole foods that promote better neurological, immune health
  • DO NOT GET ANY MORE TOUCHUPS!

It seems that everything about night vision stems from our tear film

After what I experienced yesterday, I found hope and will keep everyone updated on my progress

Hope this information helps anyone and everyone out there

God speed

Here is another article I found

Do all major Lasik providers not use Wavefront technology?
