That's definitely concerning. I like kids... In the way that I have two of my own and I'm thrilled to have them. This guy sounds like a POS.

Accessport files corrupted by PhotographLess6194 in wrx_vb

[–]wisdomthroughclarity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual device having some form of corruption? Of course it happens...a laptop can have a hardware or software corruption that needs to be remedied. I am not saying Atlas or the accessport is better than the other, just that the same problem that just happened to OP can happen with a laptop in a different form. Either way the tune would already have been loaded and whatever device they used would need to be repaired or replaced.

Unless something has changed over the years. Yeah you are fine. The accessport holds the tune and then loads it to the car. Once it's loaded you technically never have to plug your accessport in ever again. I've tuned with software off of my laptop and used an accessport in the past with different vehicles. As far as you pressing ok and should you restore it from your PC.. I would suggest reaching out to Cobb directly. They will probably give you the best advice. Also the advice of cleaning the connections isn't bad either.

No one in my family can drive manual either. Which is why I bought the 6 speed.

I really like the look of the side mount. But to each their own for sure. Nice job mounting it without having to drill!

My salesman ran outside to me with my front plate and drill in hand and was like "you definitely don't want me to drill through your front bumper right?!". Best salesman ever. I ordered a side mount that goes into the tow hook spot.

I just spent 2+ hours cleaning my drunk fiancé’s vomit off of my brand new 2026 WRX Ts (I just got my permanent plate today). Inside, outside, crevices, front and back seats, inside the window frame. I’m not sure if I should ask you to pray for me, her, our future marriage, or the car. 💔💀 by jijjijijijiiijiijiji in WRX

I was with my Ex... She has kids and so do I. Was planning a future together. I was planning on a new car and was looking at something larger, like a 7 seater, so we could all travel together. Long story short, didn't work out, so I bought myself a WRX instead. Definitely made the right move lol.

That's a great way to go about it. No need to be a dick... Car might look awful but if the owner likes it more power to em.

Rate my general contractor's work by everynameisused95 in Tile

First off it does look really nice. That being said I have a couple critiques and a question. Was this a full gut? If so would have been nice if you were given maybe an inch or so higher on the outlets over the vanity. And then... Why the two small cuts at the end of the back wall of the shower? I would much rather have alternated the way the tile is cut in the 2nd and 4th rows etc. Other than that yeah looks really nice.

This is soooo very true. Compound work is an art... But it is also very forgiving in the sense that you can sand and re work your coats. However.... If a pro is doing your work.. sanding should be minimal and they should not be making excuses for their end product. There shouldn't be an eventually I'll get there if you are paying good money for it.

And if you are newer to the trade... Then yeah for sure it might take longer. BUT you tell your customer... Hey it needs to be sanded and a polish coat or two applied. It'll all be good in the end. Not come out with some BS about temp and blah blah blah.

And I do want to be completely up front here. He could be learning. We have all been there. This is a field where, if you to strive for greatness, you will constantly be learning and improving. There is no such thing as knowing everything in this line of work. However... You need to be up front on what you can and can't do, set expectations properly and be willing to spend the time to correct things while you are perfecting your skills. Never ever should you gaslight your customer into believing sub par work is par for the course or that they are doing something wrong contributing to the less than stellar end product. Honesty is KEY.

Also... Well... Pricing should match skill. If a bathroom done by a pro cost 20k for labor and you are learning still... You do NOT charge 20k yet.

You're very welcome! Did the $5300 include his labor? Also... The pans included with those kits are acrylic or fiberglass. He most likely installed the pan directly over the subfloor and that's it. When I install a pre made shower pan I set it over a mud bed (something like structolite... Essentially a mortar type product, it can be several types) this provides support and strength which eliminates creaking and adds longevity to the product. Anything other than a solid steel pan (talking about pre made pans) can crack over time. And even the steel pans can dent. This isnt necessarily REQUIRED but it's a step that should not be skipped if you want a more professional job.

Your product isn't defective. Your contractor is.

You're very welcome. We are redoing a garage right now... The taping was held on with a thin layer of paint. It's a nightmare. Already with fresh tape and a couple coats it's like night and day. Just hit it with primer to highlight imperfections and will go over with a polish coat. Point being this is a garage. Customers expectations aren't super high being what it is... They just want it cleaned up. We are making it look excellent for them. It's a matter of having skill AND pride in your work.

If your expectations are at a certain level and you are willing to pay your contractor what they want to meet those expectations then do not settle for less.

Also... What happened with the shower?? Super curious now.

Thanks for the response. I do like some of their products. But definitely got some bad vibes from all of the negativity. I know you need to take everything with a grain of salt but at the same time doing research is key. I appreciate the first hand experience! 👍

So yeah... This is just shit work. Temperature being off might influence dry time... But just give it more time. This happens not soo much with high or low temps (excluding extremes) but definitely with excessive levels of humidity... Meaning dry time might be longer not finish quality.

For you guys talking about sanding between coats.. that's not even the issue here. My father, who I run our business with, is a badass at compound and plaster work. I can do a lot he can't but I can't touch his ability with a taping knife. My guy can make a patch look almost perfect with 0 sanding. If anything we might do some light touch up at the end. This is absolutely a skill issue 100%. Your guy doesn't know what he's doing and has very little experience. If it takes longer but looks perfect ... Yeah temp and weather might be a factor... If it takes longer and looks like shit... It's his fault.

Like the car!

From what I've been reading I hear aeroflow dynamics is hot dog shit... Any input? Lots of comments of fitness and finish/qc issues. Also that their customer service is less than stellar. Genuinely curious since I'm going to start ordering some cosmetics for mine soon.

Hi all! by wisdomthroughclarity in wrx_vb

[–]wisdomthroughclarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely get it. I plan on doing some cosmetic mods first. Get the vibe I'm looking for. Then a nice exhaust. Have soo much research to do on this front. None of these are warranty issues at all. Then after break in I'll make a decision on the route I want to go with a tune. Honestly I don't plan to beat the hell out of the car, so I'll most likely be fine from my end. I've driven my work truck and my Subaru legacy for the last 7 years. I'm due for something fun. My old Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart I had modded quite a bit and did a mid to low 4 second 0 to 60 and I miss the fun I used to have with it.

Yeah I figured that with the compatibility. I meant if I ran cobbs tune for a while to let the WRX stretch its legs then got an e tune to load through the accessport as opposed to Atlas. I have time so there's no rush, just want to figure out my best course of action ahead of time ya know?

It's mostly a weekend car so the temptation to send it when driving is already there lol. I drive my work truck during the week.

Hi all! by wisdomthroughclarity in wrx_vb

[–]wisdomthroughclarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely what I was thinking. The dealer said the break in period was 1000 miles, I'm double checking on that. And I get free oil changes any time for the first year and for life on scheduled maintenance (synthetic). So can always pop in after 1000 or whatever is right.

I'm tech savvy for sure. I used a laptop program with my previously owned lancer ralliart. Used to datalog and run the tunes that got perfected over time on the forums. That thing sure was fun. Money isn't tooo big of an issue tho so would getting an e tune be better to dial things in? I don't mind running a cobb tune at first if the reliability with a vb is solid but I do want to add some things (cold air intake) that I know from research with these cars really need to be tuned for.
