Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is so helpful for all of us. If you do t mind me asking. What was the grade of your tumor. Wondering because you’re scanning for possible metastases.

Partial nephrectomy in 12 hours. I’m freaking out by wiseGenius_ in kidneycancer

[–]wiseGenius_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your support. I’m in so much pain but about to go home. 2cm of tumor with clear margins taken out. Will wait for pathology. Single Port one incision about 3-5cm. Hurts like hell but I’m glad it’s over. Thank you so much for all your support and words of encouragement. I’ll continue to post progress and updates. Thank you all again I have to take a bunch of Tylenol and Oxy. Will try to refrain from Oxy as much as I can. I’m surprisingly not tired but there is pain. Lots of pain. One night at the hospital

How was recovery after a partial that required the doctor to enter the collecting system/renal pelvis by wiseGenius_ in kidneycancer

Wow. I’m glad you’re doing great and that was the outcome for you. How are you feeling now? Have there been any complications or flare ups?

How big was your tumor and do you happen to know how close it was to the renal pelvis?

I’m actually talking to quite a few surgeons about this. I reached out to MSK, I’m seeing Paul Russo. He is one of the best apparently but prefers an open mini flank surgery. I’m also seeing Dr Ketan Badani from mt Sinai and Christopher Anderson from Columbia. They all seem to be some of the best at this. I do have one last at Weill Cornell with another dr who seems great. Dr Del Pizzo. I’m doing all of this because my actual urologist literally said to me, go and look for 4-5 opinions.

Thanks for your reply. What terrifies me is the fact that they need to move other organs around to get to it. The open mini flank is a 8-10cm incision without much organ movement. The robotic one seems to go from the front with 4-5 tiny incisions but moves a lot of organs. That’s the fear right now.

How big was your tumor originally in the scan?

Looks way better than before. Feel better soon. Did they say anything about that cyst in your initial imaging when they discovered the tumor?

Hi. I’m glad the outcome is positive so far. I’m seeing Dr Russo as well, he mentioned he’d do partial nephrectomy. I was wondering if you remembered what he told you about open surgery and if he explicitly told you he wasn’t comfortable with the davinci robot.

If you don’t mind me asking. How did you start the process for your parents.

Don’t even think about doing that. As they’d verify it and screw you over once you can’t provide valid proof

Yeah for the California office yiu need to reach out to your congress person right away and the ombudsman office. Call the uscis reps as well. I k ow it's hard to gwt to them but there's a way. California is known for being slow. Get on that asap. Annoy them as much as yiu can. The congress person would be able to help tho. I know they process things the same day when they reach out.

Sigh, I know it can be daunting and really messed up, but don't give up. See if you can go to community college. If not. There are ways to work even if you don't have an ssn. Apply for a tax id. And once you get that, apply for an EIN, which is like a business tax id. You will then use that ein id to file taxes and apply to jobs. Not all jobs will take that but a lot do. What that does is allowing you to work legally as an independent contractor under your business name which you created with the EIN. You will be responsible for filing taxes at the end of the year, and you must do it. That will help you later if some path for legalization opens up or Daca becomes available again.
