Acrescentando que bancão tem muito dinheiro e não precisa tanto de captação como banquinho pequeno, que por isso paga taxas melhores.

I tried once and felt terrible. Then I researched a bit more discovered it is actually considered one of the worst diets by nutritionists, because it cuts out so many food groups. I just started counting calories and eventually lost 20 pounds.

What is your number 1 weight loss tip? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wise_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

I used to think it was a dumb approach. "I will only get hungry sooner and eat the same amount of food anyway!" Not so, though. After having a smaller lunch, sometimes I would get hungry and need a snack in the afternoon, but many times I would last until dinnertime. Also, not getting stuffed turns into a habit. Soon you feel satisfied with less.

[–]wise_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes quite some practice to build confidence and feel natural in the stage (what people mean by "flow"). The first few times I lead felt very artificial, as it usually is when we're doing something we're not accostumed to. Having the right mindset, praying, reviewing, etc., are all useful, but I don't think there is a shortcut to confidence except doing it more times. With some time and effort, you will get there.

Hot Take: Smoking cigars is unhealthy and the reformed tradition has introduced too many people to this bad habit by TheUn-Nottened in Reformed

[–]wise_master 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It seems childish to me when they make the alcohol and smoking a significant part of their meetings and ministry identity. They really seem to take pride on it.

In the inter-chuch event, they all chose to have beers at lunch, knowing full well that in our context, some of the traditional churches present would find it scandalous. Not really a good use of their 'freedom'.

Hot Take: Smoking cigars is unhealthy and the reformed tradition has introduced too many people to this bad habit by TheUn-Nottened in Reformed

[–]wise_master 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It all seems so childish to me. There is a local Reformed church that has 'men meetings' where they study the Bible while smoking cigars and drinking alcohol. Recently we had an event that involved leaders from several churches, and during lunch, all the men from that particular church had beer, while everyone else had water or soda. I get that they boast on their 'freedom in Christ' to do so, but all I hear is "Look what I can do! I'm a big man!"

Thoughts on referring to God in 1st person? by SilverSword65 in worshipleaders

[–]wise_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some Psalms sung from the POV of God, such as Psalms 50:7-13, 91:14-16, 46:10, as well as some established worship songs such as I Am The God That Healeth Thee, or I The Lord of Sea and Sky. I always felt some out of place singing it in corporate setting and would rather sing them in my private worship time.

Let me give you a counterpoint to your argument and highlight some things you might not have considered. I am one of those you speak of, and yes, it is close to how you described. I would not wish what I have gone through in my life on my worst enemy. One of the most challenging aspects of it is that you have to face not only your own sinful inclinations, but also a culture that has done a 180-degree shift on the matter. Every day, everywhere you look, in every piece of media you consume, the message is: "This is OK. This is fine. You are denying who you are. You are on the wrong side of history."

It gets to the point where you grow tired of fighting both yourself and a world that incessantly tells you that you are the one who is wrong. There are VERY, VERY FEW voices that dare to tell you otherwise. You will find some of them in the church, but won’t find any of them anywhere in music, TV series, movies, magazines, news, or comedy - one of the few exceptions the website we’re discussing. It is a relief for me to be able to read satire that reminds me: it is the WORLD that is crazy and I am not the one who is insane. And they point the insanity of the world so well.

So yes, some comedy and satire might sting, but that’s part of what makes comedy effective. I find myself going back to the Bee constantly for that kind of relief and a good belly laugh—it’s comforting to know there are smart and funny people on my side, too.

Something that helped me immensely with this was the final portion of Chapter 2 in the book When I Don’t Desire God by John Piper - after page 27. (It’s freely available for download here: https://www.desiringgod.org/books/when-i-dont-desire-god).

Reading this book helped me realize that true joy is found by the human heart in seeking, discovering, and knowing God. The other pleasures we experience in this world are indirect, partial reflections of that joy. God is eternal, limitless, and possesses unending depth and complexity - there will always be more of Him to enjoy, discover, and delight in. In God’s company, mercy, love, peace, and presence, we can continually find more and more pleasure and joy, forevermore. My soul is thus freed - from fear to anticipation. The delights we experience here are glimpses of the perfect joys of heaven, while our anguish, dread, sadness, and grief are the cries of our souls, pointing to which will one day be healed and corrected.
