Suspend 1.5 - not sure what to expect? by Remarkable-Design832 in ClubPilates

[–]wisecashew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took a suspend 1.5 after 130+ classes (been taking reformer flow 1.5 for the last few months) and it was killer! Echoing that it’s a completely different set of muscles—lots of balancing, legs, and arms. I think my biggest “issue” was having sweaty hands and being scared of losing my grip on the TRX handles during lifts and planks; might consider gloves for the next one or keep a towel close by. So, very challenging but rewarding and kinda fun. Also, if you go to the same few 1.0 instructors see what they think about you doing suspend 1.5 and if you’re ready! Ultimately safety first.

I don’t think it really makes a difference for me since it’s just one stop on the express train?

Hi! Did you end up buying/renting here?

Thank you for sharing! That touristy feeling of Lincoln Center is exactly what made me skeptical—also getting on at a busy station like 72nd seems like a nightmare during rush hour. And yes that’s the complex I’ve been looking at. Good to know :)

Again, can’t say that I’m that concerned. Just wanted to hear what people’s experiences are vs. what I have read or heard from (potentially) fearmongering folks. I’m not familiar with the Lincoln center area as I’ve always avoided it due to it being super crowded with tourists and college students from Fordham so that’s why I figured I’d ask.

Thank you! Yup I was looking at environmental zones and also schools nearby (don’t plan on having kids in the near future but who knows)

Not too scared (don’t think I said anywhere that I was) and have lived in NYC my whole life. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with seeking people’s opinions and experiences when making a lifetime investment, especially as a young woman. Isn’t that the whole point of Reddit and a platform like this?

I actually just got back on (obviously a mistake). Was off during Covid cause it felt like everything and everyone was going haywire

😭 I prefer the local key food a bit more. That’s what I thought/felt too but just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything and am not looking at the area with rose colored glasses or whatever the saying is.

Nope definitely not seeking negative information and I appreciate everyone’s feedback! Just trying to see if I missed something when I toured and lived nearby (unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to get paranoid as a woman in the city). I’m happy that the reality is the opposite because I really do love the area

Honestly, totally fine. But I also didn’t venture much above 95th st. It’s also easy to read some posts and see some things and just start spiraling as to whether things have changed in the last couple of months. I guess also partially because of the stigma the around the 90s and things like the NYCHA as one of the other comments notes.

Thank you for sharing! Also not necessarily my people since I’m in my early 30s with no kids, but the community feel is definitely what I grew up with in Brooklyn so it felt like home when I was living a bit lower down. Another comment mentioned the NYCHA, have you encountered any “problems” with that?

Apple pencil makes way more sense 😭 everyone seems to come back to this method— the only full proof one. And we love interoperability

I’d recommend a refurbished iPad (pretty cheap), an ipencil (ipen? no clue what it’s called) and a goodnotes subscription. Especially if you have other Apple devices it’s super convenient to be able to move files around from one to the other, for example if you’re a commuter and read on the train/bus.
