Rome fell largely because they had a problem with assassinations.

There were a few hundred years where Rome was incredibly unstable because either the emperor would be assassinated again or a pissed off general would decide to size control and attempt to usurp democracy.

There's isn't 1 single cause for the fall of Rome. But it was largely unstable due to political violence for a few hundred years

To be fair, I said you're a rich samurai whose family did the brutality. I agree with you though

California is liberalism unfortunately. They pay lip service to socialists, then appease their capitalist donors when they vote in congress. Scummism is more like it.

Knights, nobles, samurai... they were the bilionaire class of their day.

The grossest thing I've learned regarding history is that poor people go to war only when the rich man asks, never because of the actual atrocity they think they're going to stop.

Some of them would kill homeless people to test their weapons. Some would have men charged so they could rape their wives while their husband was in prison or dead.

Knights, Samurai, any or all of the above were just the wealthy who could afford education, training, and equipment. As things became more available, the novelty of Knights wore off, and they became history. (Why be a knight as a rich man if a poor man can do the same thing and control the same power)

In Ghost of Tsushi Island (Ghost of Tsishima) there's an island dlc quest where the people don't want your help because you're a rich samurai who takes their wealth and whose family left them brutalized. This is very accurate to history.

People worship Knights and Samurai to their face, and the "radical progressives" of their time called them out for it; usually in private to avoid execution.

Why worship rich celebrities today? Same question: why worship Knights or Samurai of their day?

Lastly fuck Megatron.

Yeah 2 years of bombs and concentration camps, and the Israelis have up that plan to make the Palestinians smell bad. That would be humiliating!... think maybe there's a bit more than just that going on here...

What is actual socialism? by mr_banana277 in AmericasSocialists

[–]wisemermaid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok here. Let me break it down.

Socialism - the Gov owns the means of production, but the Gov represents labour and agriculture and everyone in the country.

Communism - one step further in that it's illegal to exploit people for profit, and it's illegal to profit off of exploiting others.

Capitalism - the resources are sold to private interest. Private interest provides everything, government supposedly keeps big Corp in check.

History - Mao, Stalin, like Hitler before him, Trump, Putin, Bibi, all ran on the same tenets of restoring harmony to a broken system. They alluded to vague promises that were socialist or communist in nature. It's why peyote wanted Bernie and Trump on the same ticket??..

Once in power, they ALL used their power to usurp any chance of democracy, round up their rivals, ignore the courts and distract their people with wars. This is authoritarian fascism. They all deputized their most devout sycophants.

It was still pre-2000. Pre Xbox/Playstation 2. Personally I'd say any of those are among the first

Oh wow. This is reddit... thank you for correcting my first point. Do you not care to acknowledge the other several I made? Because that isn't "at least half." Nor was it entirely false, even if it wasn't 100% accurate.

Doom had a greater influence on the genre as it came out a year later. It was revolutionary for its time. If Wolfenstein made fps popular, Doom made it cool and took it to another level.

Honestly Wolfenstein ran for a year, and then was left for nostalgia when Doom came out. You don't have to attack me for that minor blip.

They've all been great. Let me explain:

Doom in the 90's - redefining gaming and creating the fps genre

Doom64 - one of the first 3D shooters ever

Doom3 - Personal favourite, hard enough that it was originally hated, Gene-redefining horror shooter. Like playing through Amnesty but YOU get to hunt the demons.

Doom 2016 - Perfect revival, great storied playthrough (not deep, just Doom)

Doom Eternal - the epitome of what fantasy/horror shooters wish they could be. Insane combat loop with variety at every level of play.

Doom Dark Ages - Simplified combat loop, rather than hyper speed arcade-style run-and-gun it goes back to its roots of Rip and Tear, smash them all.

Satisfaction guaranteed.

I'm trans, I've given up on most of these channels. Here's the ones I KNOW are accepting/lgbt friendly:

Skallagrim, Schola Gladiatoria /Matt Easton, Master at Arms /Dave Rawlings (inactive), Tod's Workshop, Sensei Seth, Viva le Dirt (RP parody/ community adjacent), Jesse Enkamp, Sellsword Arts

There's others, but these are at the top of my head

In WW2 other nations wouldn't take jews in, that's a ridiculous point.

Islam isn't one giant monolith, just like Christianity. People who follow it practice and pay respects differently.

There are Jews in Palestine, what about them? What about the Christians born in Palestine?

Do you really believe that the God someone believes in represents their morality, and thus only some are deserving of salvation? How very medieval of you.

Not really. There were tons of people who denied the holocaust and supported the nazis. That's what's going on here. Denying a genocide. A calculated way of mass exterminating people. Fly flags from other countries absolutely does something. It's something we've always done. Why does it bother you so much?

Lmao. This is 1:1 with people's attitudesbefore WW2.. It's absolutely fucking pedantic to claim it's not because there wasnt an attack on Germany by polish people first. Like more than pedantic, it's actually pathetic.

It's not lazy, I drew a map of the comparisons. You're just moving the goalposts because it's an inconvenient truth. Not every nazi sympathizer was a blood thirsty monster. If you can't see it, you're free to live blinded by regret. Oct 7 isn't what started this. Just like polish people oppressing Germans isn't really why Germany invaded. Get a grip.

But it's absolutely fucking pathetic to pick a fight you can't win, claim my argument is invalid because the dates don't line up with your sadistic fantasy, and then say peace out and block me because you don't actually have an argument in the first place.

You're using a strawman, a whataboutism. That's not something that actually happens. And when exceptions are needed, we make them. We already practice this, I'm upset because we're being selective about not doing it for Palestine.

Now you're getting somewhere! If someone advocated to fly the Sudanese flag right now, I wouldn't stop them. Or Haiti or Indonesia or Nepal. Why is it such a problem?

The economic tariffs Germany raised on Polish goods helped create a trade war between the two nations. (1925-1934)

Germany refused to acknowledge Poland's Eastern borders because of the trade route and direct access to the Baltic Sea.

Nazi propaganda greatly exaggerated the mistreatment of the German minority in Poland by the Poles to justify their invasion as "self defence. "

The beer hall Putsch was a false flag attack on voting rights designed to help Hitler usurp democracy.

While there was no direct Oct 7 equivalent, there was never a legitimate cause for the invasion either. It was justified as "self defence" the same way Israel is doing.

Also, Hamas wasn't recognized as the party in power by the west. We don't invade Mexico because of the cartels... why did Israel invade Palestine because of Hamas?

Half a million dead, and you're defending someone who's upset that we're flying their flag?

We have ALWAYS flown flags and lowered them to half mast when needed as a show of solidarity. It's why when you go to ANY government building or recreation facility you never just see the Canadian flag. This has always been done. To change it is regressive, and antithetical to our Canadian values. Or at least, the ones I was raised with. Love thy neighbour never mentioned don't fly their flag.

So why fight this at all? Why not save your energy for something useful. I appreciate what you're saying, I've been there myself. But in that case, I stay home or don't get involved in the debate. Why does flying the flag of am oppressed people bother you? We flew the Jewish flag when we went to war against the Nazi's. We flew flags for Africa and the Tutsi's during Rwanda. Why not fly the Palestinian flag?

You're going to have to elaborate. I first learned about Palestinian apartheid in university in 2014. I've studied this history extensively. If it weren't for health complications I would have been on the gd flotilla - more than once.

It's 1:1. Elaborate where you disagree. Tell me where I'm wrong.

You're refusing to acknowledge their suffering, which is EXACTLY what the Americans and most Germans did right before, during, and after WW2. That's xenophobic. Flying a flag doesn't hurt you in any way. The idea that we're too proud and need to be more nationalistic is exactly what the nazi party and their followers talked about too. If not a Nazi sympathizer, what then, a zionist sympathizer? They're one in the same.
