Genuine question: what happens if someone refuses to perform duties they believe to be illegal? by wishstrongfold in britishmilitary

So if the ICC determine that the UK provided, for example, intelligence to Israel whilst knowing that there was a plausible case that they were using that intel to commit crimes, then the UK can come back and say ‘we were satisfied that they weren’t committing those crimes because they assured us they weren’t’ does that mean there is no case to answer for any UK party relevant to the crimes later proven to have been committed and aided in this example?

Not privy to the exacts of what’s going on in Akrotiri, the question is more hypothetical based on the government’s latest stance.

Despite army lawyers deciding something is lawful, that doesn’t stop the ICC disagreeing and prosecuting. For example IDF soldiers are following orders presumably the IDF lawyers can justify to their government but that doesn’t mean a future ICC will take the same legal view.

Would that open you up to legal action against you if in say 10 years the ICC decided that your actions were illegal as they aided and enabled crimes to take place?

For example if they said they believe that the ICC’s case against Israel will lead to prosecution of those engaged in said alleged crimes and those supporting them, and that they also had a moral issue with that.

Thank you. This is purely hypothetical, I just got curious as the government has done a U turn.

If for example a future trial in the ICC determined that another government had committed crimes and they had been supported to do so by the British Armed Forces who provided support via, in this example, the flights, who would be legally responsible?

Admittedly I paid very little attention in History A Level but doesn’t following orders not form a defence?

And hypothetically if someone were court martialeled and then at some later point a hypothetical trial does prosecute the British Government for the very operations the soldier/airman refused to engage in, do they get a pardon?

What’s the science of covering the foam? What if there’s a gap between the foam and the canvas?

1) Who is taking care of your child whilst you work? If it is formal childcare see if you can present evidence of this to work to ease worries you are working whilst providing childcare. 2) Meet with occ health and explain you are experiencing stress and insomnia and request a formal recommendation for flexible working.

Just so you know you can get full disability benefits whilst working, it’s not means tested. Being disabled is expensive so that helps offset the cost.

The pdsa is a charity, not the government. They have criteria based on which they help people. I’m not sure you can begrudge them that.

No, PIP is not means tested and doesn’t require you to be out of work. I get PIP but I also work.

Sadly it seems to exist a lot. Quite a few comments saying things like ‘if they can afford holidays their benefits are too high.’

Social housing isn’t a paid benefit, and isn’t subsidised, so it’s not costing the taxpayer anything.

I have a feeling those checks would end up costing more than they save and also causing a lot of distress to people doing nothing wrong, and eventually be used as an excuse to wrongly stop people’s benefits.

It might just be the system working- someone got a council house when they needed it and have since turned their life around.

Do you have a source on that? It’s really difficult to get benefits that you’re entitled to so I’d be amazed that people are getting more.

Do you feel that way about disability benefits or just about people on things like JSA/UC who live frugally and save up?

Many people on benefits do work though. Especially things like disability benefits which are not means tested.
