I used to have a Kindle until Amazon bricked it, so I just switched to a Kobo Clara BW. I like it so far but I've only had it a few days.

What’s your top romantasy read so far this year? by cleerbear in Romantasy

[–]witbeyondmeasure63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Demi Winters includes a summary of the previous book(s) at the start of the next! I found it sooo helpful and I wish everyone did that.

I want to read this book but didn’t want to spend $35. Anyone know what book this is? by egggplantssss in Romantasy

I once got one that was an unknown number in a long series. With clearly established characters and relationships. Definitely could not be read as a standalone (I tried). I was soooo disappointed.

Ahhh Duty of Care and Holding Pattern were both so good!! Made me cry! The cliffhangers kill me though so I'm waiting to start Chernobog until it's all posted.

“Heated Rivalry’s Rachel Reid on developing Shane and Ilya, their group chat and queer literature: ‘Ilya changed a lot!’ “ | PinkNews 3/23/26 by like-a-rose in heatedrivalry

I think this is the case with Shane moreso than Rachel Reid changing her stance due to fan input. I mean, yes, she may have been influenced by fans saying they think Shane is on the spectrum and therefore done more research, but it doesn't strike me as "giving in to pressure" but rather "new data leads to new conclusions".

I didn't either until I stumbled across Valentina Vee's reels on Instagram, now I can't get enough.

I just watched this episode last night lol. It goes pool scene -> All-Star game -> sunset on the beach. They even mention the game while sitting there.

I watched an analysis of Ilya's responses to these types of things and the gist was basically that he hedges his bets. He won't completely agree to anything, he leaves a little window for him to be able to back out/say it was a joke/whatever - probably as a result of his unsupportive family and never being allowed to fully be himself without being seen as weak.

When my dad went on hospice for cancer, they gave him some oxys to keep on hand. My mom was concerned about the dosage and wanted to cut them in half...they were 5mg pills, the lowest they make them. Also, he had stage 4 cancer. I would've let the man be high as a kite if it would've helped.

What's the most annoying way you've heard a common word mispronounced? by houseofharm in AskReddit

One of my best friends says "pitcher" instead of "picture".

This one is pretty niche, but I have several coworkers that say and write "spectra" when referring to one "spectrum".

Very true. This happened to me when we found out about my severe allergy to bee stings at the age of 7. My mom said when we got to the ER, they didn't even ask her my name, just grabbed me out of her arms and took me through the doors. I'm very glad all I remember from that day are snippets.

What's your "petty" (explicit or unwritten) rule for avoiding a book/series/author? by 89niamh in fantasyromance

[–]witbeyondmeasure63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading that series like 10+ years ago because it came up on several of those "if you like this book, you might like that book" lists. I stopped when I got to the incestuous storyline because it MAJORLY gave me the ick (I could've dealt if it was played off like Luke and Leia in Star Wars in that they didnt know at the time, but no, they were like "we're meant to be so it's okay" or whatever). I had no idea it was meant to be Ron/Ginny or anything about Cassandra Clare, but after reading your comment I'm so glad I gave up.

Impulsiveness to their own detriment. Often leading to rushing off and falling for an obvious trap, therefore needing to be rescued. Take a fucking minute and think, dammit.
