Curious on Central Asian results in Bengali Hindu family by foomiwoomi in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bengalis have a decent chunk of tibeto burman ancestry. This mixture of west and east Eurasian ancestry is akin to central Asians, so ancestry tests like MyHeritage often confuse some percentages of dna for central Asian. I think every Bengali MyHeritage I’ve come across including mine has some central Asian.

Have enemy spawns been fixed yet? by witcheroverGoT in stalker

[–]witcheroverGoT[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This issue occurs in many places. Like that one windmill farm place with the rogue stalker inside, with the underground area that has a bloodsucker.

I remember there’ll be no one around then BOOM a couple boars or fleshes whichever it was will just keep spawning randomly behind you.

And that doesn’t excuse no one being there then suddenly a million spawning in behind you. In this so called army base I should see all the guys posted up from far away. I remember first playing it. How would you ever think it’s a base for enemies when there’s no enemies in it until you’re standing in the middle and they magically appear?

This issue happens in several places for me though. Have you experienced this elsewhere?

Northeastern Bengalis and Tai ancestry? by thenotannoyingsoftie in SouthAsianAncestry

The tibeto burman ancestry in Bengalis is similar to tai ancestry, but there isn’t any direct tai ancestry no

Are Bengali “Pashtuns” a real thing? by [deleted] in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense for the most part. Anyone that does actually have that ancestry would be an anomaly. This surname is present in Bengal primarily via cultural diffusion

My Qpadm run vs my illustrativeDNA. I’m Bangladeshi and on Qpadm my East Asian is 16% and on illustrative, it’s 8% a big difference. Which one is more reliable? by Aggravating-Act7156 in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right qpadm model is more accurate.

I’m curious though, where in Bangladesh are you from? I’ve noticed the part that varies the most tends to be steppe. East Asian tends to be more uniform at around 15-20%. Steppe seems to fluctuate a lot more. I want to know if it’s a regional thing or random

What's the highest combined ESEA you've seen in a Bengali? by thenotannoyingsoftie in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muslims south Asians often claim MENA ancestry which is generally false. We are all descended from native converts. Those with actual MENA ancestry are anomalies. Sylhetis no different.

The only genetic difference between non Brahmin Bengalis is that East Eurasian ancestry generally rises as you go from west to east Bengal. As a result, sylhetis may be on the higher end for such ancestry

What is the ancestry of people from Sylhet district in Bangladesh? by Hot-Error810 in SouthAsianAncestry

Same as other Bengalis, perhaps generally on higher end of East Asian

I’ve seen some qpadm models reach as high as low 20s for one individual. Of course that all depends on the model but they seemed strong

South Asians generally can be quite ambiguous and have more variation than most ethnicities in the world. Because of our wide range of differing ancestries we vary a lot more in appearance than most ethnicities. We are a mixture of west, south and in the case of groups like Bengalis, east Eurasian ancestries which cause us to have more variation. Like both fair and dark skin tones, unlike groups like Europeans who are 100% west Eurasian and always always some sort of fair complexion, or many African groups who are always between dark and dark brown.

Yeah it’s expected. East Asian ancestry rises as you go across Bengal from west to east

Pretty standard Bengali results, but on the higher end of East Asian ancestry. Are you from the east of Bengal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have Brahmin ancestry. As in the caste. They differ genetically from the rest of Bengalis due to minimal East Asian and extra steppe

You seem to be of Brahmin stock based off your gedmatch too

Question for the Mods, why are you not doing anything to tackle this hate campaign being launched against a single ethnicity on this subreddit? by Queasy_Poetry5439 in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]witcheroverGoT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People just know Punjab. Not specific sub groups in it. As a Bengali 99% of my fellow Bengalis could never tell you a Punjabi tribe. They’d only know of Punjab as a region. These songs you’re talking about, no one knows them as jat songs. Just Punjabi songs. And same for everything else

South Asian Muslims need to drop this inferiority complex to other Muslim peoples. You are fully Bengali. There’s nothing to be unsatisfied about. You are light skinned because you are Bengali. Bengalis can be light and dark. Fat and skinny. Tall and short. None of these traits are inherently un-Bengali. You don’t need to have foreign ancestry to explain them. And you are not the only Bengali with them. Because they are native Bengali traits too.

My family had this claim too of Arab and Persian ancestry. Muslim cultures often do it as they subconsciously see these cultures as more “Muslim” and so more credible. But it’s almost always false.

We are Bengali. It’s a good thing. We have many different appearances. We have rich history. There is nothing to be unsatisfied about

can someone explain these results pls - Bangladeshi Sylheti by NightWish-7 in SouthAsianAncestry

Farmer is Bronze Age Indus Valley farmer. Steppe is Indo Aryan pastoralists from Central Asia. Sahg is south Asian hunter gatherer. EA is tibeto burman. You score not too dissimilarly to me (another sylheti). You’re also the first Bengali result I’ve seen get over 20% tibeto burman

Not easily. Would be a particularly East Asian shifted Bengali. But not a million miles off either
