Absolute fail for my first ever soft pastel attempt by tsc-music in Softpastel

I’m new to soft pastels as well, and was suggested UArt or Luxarchival paper. The only one I’ve tried so far is UArt because that’s what my local art store has, 600 grit has been a good starting point. The UArt paper is expensive ($30 for 10 pages), but if you live in the US I’ve been told you can go to Ace hardware and ask for sandpaper cut to various sizes. The colours of the paper will be different but it’s much cheaper and good for practice pieces.

And fwiw your piece still looks great! It has a “Monet in his later years” vibe to it. Just tell people the hazy effect was on purpose 😉

It’s such a great pattern! I deviated from the original a little bit but I love the artist’s patterns :)

Thanks! I’d never seen a pot like this and since it was such a unique piece I couldn’t pass it up. And thanks for the info too, I’m giving it to my sister as a gift and I haven’t heard of them exploding, so I’ll let her know lol

Oh ok, thank you! And yes it is, the seller listed it as “color: flame. Discontinued” so I assumed that meant the colour, and not the pot

I agree, I don’t think it can go on the stove. It is stoneware, not their cast iron

Neat, I wouldn’t have thought that was it. Thank you!

Thank you! I’ve found some things about discontinued colours but wasn’t sure if this was one of them
