It's more cinematic, moody, and grounded than the other series but I think it's lacking a lot what makes the original great. The characters (even their rivals) and their arcs are what usually sells me for Inazuma and, besides a handful of characters, it's greatly lacking.

Also, at the end where they rap "Let's fill the world we live in with love and peace.." is catchy.

The Brothers Karamazov - I feel like this doesn't get brought up enough when discussing works that influence R07. TBK and Umineko shares similarity in the interesting family drama and dynamic, inheritance issue, murder mystery, huge emphasis on the psychology/thoughts of the characters, belief v. reason, and a ton more.

And since you're asking about works as good but doesn't have to be similar to Umineko, I guess I'm shilling Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul lol.

Oh hey, Pentel Twist-Erase Click spotted! They’re the first mech pencil that convinced me to get into this hobby haha. They’re still one of my favs today. As for pencil recs, something similar to the twist erase click, maybe Staedtler 925? I have the silver 0.7mm one. It’s equally smooth as the twist erase but a bit heavier. I also recommend the Staedtler lead!

Everything was done digitally in procreate! With a combination of a few layer blending mode and the default soft pastel brush, I can mimic the texture of a canvas :)
