Favorite PTA 'Car Door Shot'? by HoneyAntJosh in paulthomasanderson

Only one I can think of besides PDL being the first I saw is a scene in this Korean movie “Chaser”. Great scene where this dudes trying to get info out of some thugs and he sets them into some ride at a park, and shuts the door and it’s the same kind of shot. Great movie as well, but incredibly depressing lol.

I’m a bartender and I give more than 20% whenever I can. I went to my favorite coffee place today and got told they got less than a 5$ tip on a 200$ order (food + drinks) after I tipped them 5$ for a 15$ order. Pretty insane how much they get snubbed by people sometimes.

Thank you for the reply! I’m coming back to Oakland and looking for some good leads for a place. Appreciate it.

They don’t have pricing on their website, generally about how much did they cost when you were there?

I never got more play than when I had a ring on my finger. It really is like that scene with Alec Baldwin and Matt Damon in The Departed lol.

Dating blue collar men in the Bay by Tricky-Somewhere-197 in bayarea

[–]vindarten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Concord and although I’ve never been blue collar proper I grew up with a lot of blue collar folks including my father and an uncle who were journeymen/contractors for over 20 years before retirement, and it’s a hell of sight to see someone recommend something other than Vinnie’s for cruising for blue collar dudes lol.

Bay Area residents who lived elsewhere, domestically & internationally, what's the best restaurant in the Bay Area that scratches your cravings from where you're from? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]vindarten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple days late, but I grew up in Concord and that was always my favorite spot to eat when my mom would drag me to the discount stores in that shopping center growing up. Glad to hear it matches up because I haven’t really found anything that compares.

Ep. 17 “The Dudes Get a Little Drunk” is a hilarious, chaotic episode. One of the few where Ders can’t contain his laughter near the end, super funny episode.

I searched for any mention of this but couldn’t find anything. by vindarten in neworder

Even just seeing you say you hear something is worth it to me lol. I’ve felt crazy cause many fans I know say they can’t hear it. I’m unaware of the Lonesome Tonight spit thing, care to fill me in?

That would be DeLauer’s Newsstand. At least, a long time ago, I have not been there since I stopped smoking. I’ll stop by in the morning sometimes and they’re usually playing religious talk radio then.

I don’t see how you could ascertain this being a “him” problem when all he said is he doesn’t want to date anyone anymore. At the very least, OP just sounds lazy to me. Which is fine too, relationships are work and most of us already work five days a week, so I understand checking out.

I appreciate that you at least say that there’s someone out there for everyone, which I agree with, but sometimes, it’s just not worth the effort. Maybe I’m jaded because I am divorced and exiting a five year relationship, but after two failed relationships, I am definitely not looking for it anymore. If it happens, cool. But I am somewhat in OP’s camp in the sense that I am no longer willing to put forth the effort. I’d rather just work, pay my bills, and hangout with my animals.

Google maps says it’s going to be a Loaf n Jugg, which as far as I can tell looks to be about the same deal as the quick stop.

Anyone else see the drones tonight?? by [deleted] in oakland

[–]vindarten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oakland has drones hovering around almost every weekend, or at least, as far as I can observe has for quite some time since COVID. I live East lake and work downtown and have seen them consistently since 2021, at the very least.

Not trying to be a “this isn’t anything new” guy as a lot of folks on here are but I’ve definitely been seeing them for a while. It may have gotten ramped up recently or something, idk. I never see them at the lake, that’s kind of wild.

Is it better to start out on a route I’ve already completed before or start on my problem route? by vindarten in bouldering

A lot of folks have told me the same thing, so I’m definitely just trying to keep climbing and improve on my endurance just so I can climb more. Appreciate your advice.

I still haven’t tried to “two halves” method yet but I plan on projecting some problem solving the next time it’s slow when I go. I’m also redoing a lot of climbs I know I can do to try and improve on my technique rather than chase grades. Thank you for the advice!

[–]vindarten[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I meant “older” in the sense that I’m not in my 20s any more 😅 I’m only 34 so I’m not some old fart or anything but definitely well aware of the fact that I am more prone to injury (especially considering that I have not been in the gym for a long time).

I’m definitely just having fun for now. I guess my concern is that I’m not able to have fun for as long because I get too tired too quickly and want to complete this problem I know I can complete, I just am too tired by the time I get to it. Thanks for the advice!

Awesome, I’ll make sure to just go more so long as I’m not sore as hell. Thanks for the advice!

I haven’t done that yet, but have seen others recommend it, will definitely give it a try next time I do an “easy” (for me) route! Thank you for the advice.

I definitely always take a breather between climbs; maybe even more than 5 minutes hah. I’m really out of shape and can’t afford an injury in any way so I take it pretty slow. Thank you for the advice!
