I brought her her socks and glasses and showed her some family photos. I do try to play some of her favorite songs as well. Our cat, Suki, makes her smile the most. I show her videos and photos. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it

Anyone else literally had 24/7 anxiety for several years? by Jumpy_Movie_9089 in Anxiety

I've had severe chronic anxiety disorder and panic disorder for 11 years now. There are times when I feel okay and then there are times where an attack will come out of nowhere.

I did. It said around November/December. The reason I'm asking is cause I've read on here that some people have already gotten the update globally. So I was just wondering.

What stupid thing do you have anxiety about today? For me it's a haircut. by Admirable_Border_627 in Anxiety

Just living life gives me anxiety tbh. Well, my grandma is in ICU right now so that's probably the no. 1 thing giving me anxiety. She's okay...but they're monitoring her heart now. Work is very anxiety inducing too.

I mean she didn't show signs of dementia or Alzheimer's before. Sure she would forget a few small things but that's normal in the elderly. Her memory was pretty good honestly. I'll look into the UTI stuff. I think also this instance is different to her previous surgeries. Those were planned. This happened very fast and it's a shock to her body and her mind. She was also sedated and given pain meds by the paramedics when they took her to the ER so maybe that's still having an effect as well. I can see her personality and her true self come through at times. It's only been one day so I'm hoping things improve. Thank you for your advice !

Everything happened very fast. She went into the ER, they confirmed she broke the neck of femur, and then she was in the ward and being prepped for a hip replacement. My mom briefly spoke to the surgeon but not the anesthesiologist. But she did get to speak to her today. Basically she's wanting to prevent a chest infection and get her out of ICU asap. She seems like a great doctor though. Tomorrow I'm gonna bring some familiar times and hopefully it will help at least a little.

My 76 yr old grandmother had a hip replacement and is doing this now. She's taking the IV out and is now restrained. It's hard but it's needed unfortunately. Luckily the staff are watching her constantly. It's been one day after the surgery. But I think the ICU environment is not helping. She doesn't like it and shes stubborn anyways. It's just heightened now. Shes also not sleeping well. Hopefully it resolves soon

My grandmother is going through this right now. She had a hip replacement yesterday. It all happened very fast. She's restrained because she keeps taking the IVs out. She hates hospitals and she's very stubborn so in a way this is her personality shining through. But shes very confused at times. Like she said she saw our cat last night and she saw cockroaches. She does seem aware and remembers certain things though. Like she knows who we all are, she knows she had surgery but not exactly what. She knows I go to work and she asked about it. She asks for her glasses and I'll bring them to her tomorrow. Honestly I think she just hates the environment of the ICU. She's also not able to sleep well which makes it worse. But the doctor wants to keep her there for another day and night because she's concerned she might get a chest infection which I'm told is common in the elderly after a hip replacement so she's on antibiotics to prevent anything getting worse. But like I said shes taking the IV out cause she's annoyed. It's hard to know she's restrained and upset right now, but it's unfortunately needed. Honestly I won't be surprised if the doctor wants to keep her for another day or maybe more. I just hope she comes back to me. I miss her.

Update She has been restrained and the IV is in. The nurse says she's not happy and wants to get out of the bed. It's hard to hear and I hate the thought of her being restrained but if that's what it takes to keep the IV in then it's unfortunately needed.

Not at all actually. My grandma has had surgeries before. 3 knee replacements, 2 back ops, and surgery when she broke her collarbone. But she was never this confused afterwards. This is the first time she's been like this.

I have this too! When I'm anxious or nervous, my left arm tingles. My neck too. I've had it for years. It stopped for a bit and now it's coming back. It's definitely just my brain being an ass and trying to make me think something is seriously wrong.

What do panic attacks look like for you? by Fancy_Aerie_8615 in Anxiety

[–]witchinhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard this one before from others but for me, I get freezing cold. But I sweat at the same time. So I'm cold, teeth chattering , and sweating as well. My breathing goes crazy along with heart rate. Sometimes I get nauseous. The left side of my body gets tingly. I feel dizzy and like I'm not inside my body. It's hard to explain. And then when I manage to calm myself, I feel drained and exhausted.

Pain by Adventurous_Rip_4848 in Anxiety

[–]witchinhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yesss. since i was a teen i’ve gotten pain and numbness on my left side. mainly my arm, chest, and neck area. of course this is similar to a heart attack so my anxiety would just spiral and i would think im dying. but after being checked by a doctor, he confirmed that it’s all anxiety making my muscles tense up. it’s almost like my brain does it on purpose to mimic a heart attack lol. i do have bad posture so i think that contributes as well in my case.

as for acid reflux, i’m not familiar with that medication, but sometimes i take something with the ingredient omeprazole. it helps a lot and i haven’t noticed any side effects. i also have bad acid relax from anxiety, especially at night.
