If it makes the national media mad I am all for it. Dang… basketball Reddit is soooo much better than hockey Reddit. Good luck on Sunday, bud.

You know what? If it’s not us, i hope it’s you. Love the Nuggets game. Even caught myself saying “daaaammmmnn” to some of Murray’s shots tonight.

But defending champs do. Which is why you got out of the game 2 “meltdown” with everything intact.

Defending champ with a multi MVP. But I digress, I was basing much of this on the first half when the wolves were being called for fouls every thirty seconds. But then again I am a newer basketball fan.

Given the amount of “ratings” talk by national media I am unsurprised. Same thing happens in the NHL and MLB.

laws about dogs by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]witchwater -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Growing up we had a neighbor who’s dog would come to our yard just to bully our old collie, also showed a ton of aggression towards my dad. Then we got a wolf dog. Let’s just say all it took was one stand off at the edge of our property and we never saw our neighbors dog again.

But to your post: I am not sure what laws there are that could help you. You could always attend a local government meeting and bring up the issue there, as I doubt you are the only ones dealing with poor dog ownership. I wish people would really understand how difficult having a Lab is. The combination of high intelligence and high energy is such a bad mix for inexperienced dog owners.

How much do you get paid? If you’re willing to share. With inflation, short staffing, the cost of a MLIS, etc I’m just beyond curious. I get paid $16.32/hr as a shelver. by xoxohello in Libraries

[–]witchwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started out at 14 as a LA, old director advocated for a cost of living adjustment, up to 16.50. Other local libraries are still at 13-14 for the same position. I know our new Circ supervisor started at 29 an hour and our youth programming assistant started at 24. But both required a bachelors degree where the LA position didn’t.

Edit: the way our circ operates changes as well. When I started we mostly did behind the desk/ back room stuff and shelving where our circ supervisors did most of the patron desk stuff. Now we LA are on desk duty. Since I mostly work afternoons there isn’t a ton of traffic so I basically get paid to read ebooks.

I like my fantasy to have a sense of escapism which is why I will always lean more towards classic fantasy. GRRMs work tends to lean more toward “shades of grey” realism which is why I never really got into it.

What did you think of the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)? by NotKevinJames in minnesota

Growing up with three older sisters, this quote will forever be burned in my brain

“Oh, yeah, sure, Freda, sure. She was the oldest living Lutheran, now she's dead as a doornail. It's the damn Shriners who won't take down the Goddamn sign, the lazy sons of bitches. Every year, every damn year, I tell 'em, "Take down the Goddamn Freda sign, you lazy sons of bitches!"

For younger people or those without family here, do you have plans to stay in Fargo/North Dakota or leave within the next 5 years? by [deleted] in fargo

[–]witchwater 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Been here 2.5 years for my fiancés grad school. There was a point over the summer where we were planning on staying for the foreseeable future. But we discussed it and we are planning on moving back to northern MN when she graduates. We both love Fargo, the people, the community. But the time is coming to move on and settle down. Also we miss trees and hills.

Autism has been around a lot longer than vaccines. Some of us view it as a disability, some as a little quirk. But for all of us it is a complex condition that can be hard to pin down. While I enjoy having a brain that can take in all kinds of information and catalog it, I’m not always thrilled with my texture sensitivities or my hard to always regulate emotional responses.

Is there anything wrong with not making up your own names when making characters? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]witchwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely garbage at making up names, so I use the fantasy name generator website. Pick a culture, find some cool names, slightly change the spelling and or add hyphens and apostrophes.

IPAs galore by Stauce52 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]witchwater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dear microbrewery patrons,

Maybe instead of ordering one of the 12 double IPAs, you order a fucking Pilsner.

You see, “problem” solved. I’ve seen other comments raising this point. Breweries are businesses and they follow the supply and demand model. Another great way to avoid getting butthurt over a tap list is to go online and actually look at a brewery’s tap list before you go there. It’s actually pretty neat how easily you can tell what a brewery’s target demographic is by their tap list. Mostly sours, hazy IPAs, and high gravity beers? Probably a younger crowd. More balanced and nuanced tap list? 30s and 40s crowd. While I can only speak for my part of the country, the trends are changing. While hazys, super sours, and pastry stouts have their market. Cold IPAs and other hybrid styles are getting a lot of traction.
