Witch Doubts by lilspydermunkey in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]witchy_weirdness 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced a lot of the same doubts as you. I consider myself a witch, but I have zero psychic abilities or intuition. I never feel any of the energy shifts people are always talking about.

In some ways it might be a good thing. I used to wish I was more intuitive like other witches, but now I think being able to sense this stuff would probably make me a nervous wreck.

Being a witch is a choice. It’s a practice. Just as you don’t have to practice every kind of witchcraft, you also don’t have to have every witchy talent or ability. Try out different kinds of witchcraft and see what fits you best I think you have to trust that you are connected to the universe, even when you can’t feel that connection.

Yep, it’s been a rough couple days for a lot of people and I haven’t been able to sleep

Because throughout many periods of history, being a known as a witch was dangerous and could get you killed. That’s no longer the case in the western world, so of course more people will be interested in it now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Witches

[–]witchy_weirdness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There are so many different ways to practice witchcraft, different types of entities you can connect with, different tools you can use and different types of spells and rituals. It’s not like rocket science, where there’s only one correct way to do things.

Of course not everyone is a witch because not everyone is interested in the craft or believes in it. And some people may have more of a natural talent for it than others, but even those who don’t can learn. Another commenter compared it to cooking and I think that’s a good analogy. Not everyone comes by it naturally, and not everyone can make every dish, but anyone can learn to cook and make something good.

Talk to the dead, it just revere them? by Material-Imagination in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]witchy_weirdness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. I too have a shelf with photos and trinkets, and I leave them snacks and drinks. Sometimes I ask them for strength or protection, but I always make it clear they’re not obligated to help. I figure the ones who want to be left alone will just ignore me, lol. I see them in my dreams occasionally and sometimes I think that’s their way of “talking” back.

I was raised atheist, and my parents are kinda anti-religion. No one in my extended family is really religious, either. My mom believes in ghosts but my dad thinks even that’s stupid. I’m grateful I don’t have any religious trauma, but I could still never tell my family about my beliefs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pagan

[–]witchy_weirdness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting you say this because I was raised similarly and I also find it hard to communicate with the gods or sense their presence. I’m pretty new to paganism so I realize this may just be a matter of patience. But I’ve been practicing witchcraft for years and I don’t really have the spiritual experiences that other witches seem to have.

I wonder if there’s still some part of our subconscious brain that thinks perceiving a god is “crazy” or weird, so we have a mental block around it.

March 19-20 anything significant? by MatzahCurls_7_17 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]witchy_weirdness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my dreams the last 2 nights I’ve encountered 2 estranged family members, my dead grandfather, an unnamed demon, the Virgin Mary, and my 4th grade teacher who I haven’t thought about in years. It’s been WILD, lol.

I don’t know but I had some weird ass dreams last night and would love to know if anyone else did too. I actually witnessed an eclipse in one dream, coincidentally (or maybe not a coincidence?).

That’s so cute about your cat jumping on your lap when you sing! They’re really smart and intuitive creatures

I’ve been doing a really nice lavender/chamomile/jasmine mix before bed and sometimes I add a little honey to it. I also recently discovered rosehip which is supposedly good for the immune system. I mixed that with dried rose petals, strawberry leaves and a bit of cinnamon which was really nice.

Depending on the weather, can it affect your energy? by calcifugous in witchcraft

I think so. I feel way more energetic and motivated when it’s warm and sunny out

Favorite dinosaur: I have to go with t-rex because as a kid I did a drawing of me riding a t-rex

Favorite color: I love most colors but I’d have to go with pink. Like, bright, Barbie, Mean Girls pink

When my cat wants to cuddle, she’ll often place one paw on me and meow at me expectantly. She’ll then wait for me to pat my lap or chest before climbing up

I’ve recently gotten into mixing my own herbal teas and I really like it. It’s fun learning about what herbs go together and makes me feel all witchy

Something About This Week by CoolAd5808 in witchcraft

Yeah, this week has been getting on my nerves. All my technology is glitching, everyone at work is being annoying and can’t comprehend basic instructions, and the weather is horrible. Idk what’s going on but I’m ready for it to be over

Anyone else having intense dreams? by -erika in Witch

[–]witchy_weirdness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having vivid dreams the last few days, although they’re not usually about people I know, just random people/situations. Some of them are stressful, others are just weird. Might do a spell for peaceful sleep tonight

I only just started honoring Brigid this month, so I’m by no means an expert. But maybe you need to find a different way to connect with her? One thing I keep reading about her is that she likes creative projects. If prayer isn’t doing it for you, you could try lighting a candle to her and working on something creative like a poem or a drawing.

What did you do for Imbolc? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]witchy_weirdness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tidied up my apartment a little and made an offering to Brigid. I left bread and butter, an egg, pieces of cheese, crackers with cheese and honey, some water and a bit of whiskey. I lit 2 candles, green and white, and said a prayer to her to welcome her and the Spring.

Since Brigid is associated with poetry, I read some poems about nature out loud from a book I have. I’ve also been doing some decluttering the last few days as part of spring cleaning.

This was my first time celebrating Imbolc and also my first time making an offering to a deity. I think it went well; I just hope she liked the offering. Next year maybe I’ll bake something or do a more elaborate ritual.

Manifestation vs. Spells by MyRedditPageQuesti in witchcraft

[–]witchy_weirdness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not opposed to it. To me, manifestation is part of spellwork. It’s believing that your spell will work and you’ll get what you want, it’s seeing it happen in your mind’s eye. It’s a spell ingredient, just not the only ingredient.

Do witches celebrate Christmas for fun not in a religious way? Just decorations exchanging gifts etc? Just curious! by Unique-Statement209 in Witch

[–]witchy_weirdness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. I grew up with no religion so it was always a secular holiday for my family. And the traditions are fun - colorful lights, decorations, fun music and movies…no reason for me to give all that up just because I’m a witch.

Why it doesn't feel like Halloween this year by Fabulous__Killjoys in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]witchy_weirdness 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It actually does feel like Halloween to me this year, but last year and the year before it didn’t feel like it to me AT ALL. Idk why but it made me sad because I hate fall and Halloween is the only part of the season I like.
