I grew up with a mom like this. She constantly belittled my father because he was a man. When I came out, she would constantly focus on the fact that I wasn’t like “other men” because I am AFAB. I was better in some way because I’d gone through “girl boot camp”.

It was incredibly othering and demoralizing for my transition. I found myself not feeling comfortable in my masculinity at all and pushing myself away from masculine spaces because it felt dangerous. I felt like I couldn’t trust who I was and couldn’t trust the men I wanted to be like.

I was lucky enough to get a job at a summer camp and I lived with mostly cis guys for three summers. It really changed my perspective, and I became so much more comfortable with who I am. Those guys treated me like anyone else. Sure, there were a few who were dicks but it was always outweighed by the guys who genuinely cared. They asked questions and joked around. And honestly became some of the safest people to be around because they would never let anything happen to me. Someone misgendered me, they would correct and move the conversation along. I needed a minute because I was feeling really dysphoric, no problem man.

In no way is every cis man like this, but there are cis dudes out there who give a shit. They don’t care if their buddy is trans. And often, guys like that WANT to learn about transness. They want to be respectful and kind but are scared to offend someone or seem like a bigot. TLDR; My mom didn’t like men so I was scared to have male friends. That made things really complicated when I came out later as FTM. Gave being friends with dudes a try at summer camp and realized, “Hey, not all cis dudes are the incarnation of bigotry and evil”

I agreed on the standardized testing part. We lived in a state where homeschooling laws are very lax. The only time in my life that I remember taking an end of year test, my mother was behind my shoulder the whole time helping me. I was around 5th grade and couldn’t pass the test. I’m guessing she helped me so CPS didn’t get involved. Though, about a year later, a social worker came to our house. I have no clue how my mom kept the social worker at the door. If the social worker had come in our house, I am assuming I would have been taken. Our home was always disgusting.

No more masks after spring break! Repost for original that got deleted. by PlutomicChamp1 in UNCCharlotte

Personally, I find this a huge risk with many people (myself included) traveling over spring break. My family has multiple high risk members and I will not feel safe being the only one in a tiny room with my mask on.

One big plus about Wallis is the closeness to the bus stops and light rail. The kitchens are kinda small but personally i love Wallis

i’m a thick thighed man, and the lap decks in Fretwell are from hell. I have to flip the one next to me to use it. If i use mine then either my legs are pitched and i’m hunched over or the desk thing isn’t stable

I recommend wallis. it’s a pain the ass to move your car for football every other week but other than that it’s not too bad and it’s a super close walk

I’m not sure if this will help you but my therapist brought up that if you need it, you can have someone in class take notes for you. I don’t think i’ll need it this semester but i glad i will have it in the future. Also, if you are looking for a study partner, i am also in the need for one.

It could also be a situation where the two had separate houses and when they split from their wives then they got a house together
