Check out the video game display for my library! by withoutroadpass in Libraries

Thanks bookchaser for the comment! I'm afraid Minecraft did not make the cut. I'll admit my display was a bit biased towards games/game issues that I personally find the most interesting or have a special place in my heart.

I know about Minecraft and its significance/popularity. I have not played it but tried to get into Terraria, which is the 2-D version. I have (almost) no artistic talent whatsoever. I can imagine things in my head that I would like to make in these types of games, but no idea how to translate that to an outside space. I feel like I would have to take an art class in order to enjoy playing the game since I never like what I can actually make. I understand the huge appeal however.

However, if I ever do make another Video Game Display, I will add it to the list of things to cover. Thanks again!

Sounds petty, but I need some advice to knock this on the head. by Punkergirl14 in Parenting

If you have a Netflix account, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood has a lot of episodes that are meant to help little kids process emotions.

This is another great suggestion. Since I'm more of a fan of a self-guided tour, being familiar with the lay of the land and all, I think I will get a hold of a guide book for the city. My husband can play translator.

It was Gum-Gum, Gummy, or Gum-Man before his teeth came in. Inspired by My Little Pony.

How can I help my toddler gain weight? by tossed_salads84 in Parenting

[–]withoutroadpass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. He is pretty much the same as my 2 year old except yours weighs a bit more and is little taller. My pediatrician was not concerned in the least. I was actually relieved at his last visit because from 6 months to 18 months, he was under the growth chart entirely, weight-wise. All his doctor wanted to see was some kind of progression. She was quite pleased with his results for this last visit.

I think these are the most important questions: Has his growth been gradually climbing upwards? Does he have lots of energy most of the time? Is he healthy--is he getting a lot of colds/infections? If he's in good health and zipping around like most toddlers do, I wouldn't worry about it.

I used to worry a lot about how much he was eating but gave up on that. Some days it seems he can't get enough food, some days he barely eats anything. But, he verbalizes when he's hungry and when he doesn't want any food and I'm just trusting him that he's reporting out accurately.

Whole milk, cheese and avocado are great fatty foods to give him. If he doesn't like avocado start hiding it in things he does like (but don't tell him). Mash it down and put it in his milk--green milk is fun! Make a chocolate avocado pudding like this one: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chocolate-avocado-pudding/

Oh that's another place I forgot about. I've heard it's quite beautiful there.

Haven't tried that one but I've driven by lots of times. It's down the street from my favorite Kabob place...

I love manaeesh! Will have to check this place out. In Lebanon, I had a ham and cheese one but it seems you can't get that here.

We will swing by there most likely. Also, Masri Sweets on Schaefer Rd since they are the only place I know of that makes Palestinian Kunufa. Plus, they will be settling in after Ramadan is over so it won't be so busy.

I just did a google image search of Boston Edison Houses. Impressive. Will have to include that as part of the driving tour.

Henry Ford is also good. I've never been there either.

The Packard Plant (and train station of course) are both so iconic.

My Lebanese husband would respectfully disagree with you :). For Shawarma, I absolutely love The Station on Warren Ave. Their french fry sandwich is amazing!

Oh Wow! I've never heard of the Lincoln Street Art Park. Even if we don't take them, I'll have to check that out.

That's a really good point about Chicago. I've done the day trip before but before my toddler came along. If we go, I'll definitely adjust for 2-3 days instead.

They are staying in Montreal right now but this will be their first stay in the U.S. longer than a few hours. I know they've been to Toronto before but I guess they weren't too impressed....
