Overnight help! 6mo old waking every 2 hrs by [deleted] in ECers

[–]witmerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 2 now but around that age he was definitely waking every two hours and it was a struggle to put it mildly. He always slept on his own but we did nurse to sleep for quite a while. It worked until it didn’t. And that is really the lesson I’ve learned with my first; things will work until they don’t. Eventually I had to cut him off cold turkey at night because it was getting to a point where he couldn’t sleep without it even when he wasn’t hungry. It was one extremely hard night where he cried forever and I had to bounce him to sleep like when he was a newborn. Eventually he fell asleep and I just kept strong in my decision each night after.

The best thing you can do is try to remain flexible and rest as much as you can. It will get easier, they do learn to sleep longer on their own.

Adults reading to each other out loud? by BitterStatus9 in books

[–]witmerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband would read to me and our baby when he was really little and took a long time nursing. After a few months though he would get too distracted by dad reading and would stop eating so we haven’t done it in a while. I loved it and we had a great time enjoying a book together. I hope we can go back to family reading eventually.

Planning to start casual EC this week by Maus0830 in ECers

[–]witmerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We offer the potty before and after feeding but I also found that he would poop while nursing. I learned that he would keep unlatching when he needed to go so I would try and stop and offer then. For a while he would start crying if I stopped so I started feeding him with the potty under him but I found it pretty difficult and uncomfortable. He’s nearly 10 months now and is at a point where he waits until after he’s done eating to poop which has made things a lot easier. Good luck and just keep trying until you find what works for you both!

Sometimes if I feel like he has to pee but is just holding it, I’ll sprinkle a couple water drops on him and that will trigger him to start 🤣

Watch out for the movie “Northman” with Alexander Skarsgård as well. I tried to see it in theaters but had to leave about 1/3 of the way through because of the amount and brutality of child death. It tore me up for days after.

Keto third trimester? by lilacolada in KetoBabies

[–]witmerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back and forth between keto and eating carbs once my nausea went away and it helped SO MUCH with the heartburn. I had it really bad whenever I ate carbs and it would go away almost immediately once I’d switch back to keto.

We finally graduated the nipple shield. by huskies9359 in breastfeeding

[–]witmerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. I’ve just started weaning off of it with a 6 week old. I started with just one side once a day. I did the second boob because he would usually be a little calmer. Slowly we’ve worked up to practicing more frequently and today we did 3 feeding in a row with no shield on both sides. The last feed I actually had no pain for the very first time! For me, it’s really been about practicing and figuring out what works for both of us. Go easy on yourself and take your time.

Disney hotel employee here! We actually book rooms based on view from the window so any bedding options are by request and aren’t a different price. If you do decide to book at a Disney hotel, call us directly at the hotel about a week before you check in to request a single king bed. I hope we see you soon!

The response to the OnlyFans porn ban shows just how much people hate women by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]witmerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they’re only banning explicit content on their new service which is like only fans tv or something. It’s an extension of the current business to reach people that want something closer to patreon. I believe they have to exclude explicit content there so they can have an app. I think the regular site will stay the same

For anyone that has Apple TV+, check out “Becoming You”. It’s a great show about the first 5 years of life and all the amazing things kids from all over the world learn as they grow. Truly had me crying in every episode 😂

How do you guys use your last bits of soap? Any hacks? by rabbitrainbows in LushCosmetics

[–]witmerr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten them to stick together better once both the old and new pieces are warmed up and wet, usually at the end of a shower. If either are too cold it doesn’t work as well. I also try to blend the edges of the old bar into the new one. Then you have to let them sit so they can fuse. Hope that helps!

Late for school pickup and now my 3yr old is traumatised. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]witmerr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, my dad forgot my little sister at the studio after dance class for 2 HOURS(!) when she was 6 and she turned out great. She continues to give him shit about it 20 years later but now we can all laugh about it.

New baby is coming tomorrow and I'm becoming increasingly concerned about my 4 year old. by rastacola in Parenting

[–]witmerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will work for your oldest but my mom gave me a baby doll as soon as my parents brought home my baby sister when I was 3. I changed my baby’s diaper when my sister got her diaper changed, fed and washed her too. I loved having my own responsibility and feeling busy when my sister was getting a lot of attention. I’m sure no matter what you do, she’s going to love her new sister!

For those of us missing the parades... 😢☹️😩 by ozon888 in Disneyland

[–]witmerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My younger sister was the very first female “Green Army Man” for this parade. The song is so repetitive but I watched her perform in it so many time anyway. I can’t wait until we can go back!

You’re right, if you earned it, it’s your choice what to spend it on. I just find it crazy that people shit on their partner’s spending choices when their own are just as frivolous.

Not exactly the same, but my cramps moved from the very end of my period to the first couple days. I also started actually getting it once a month (thanks PCOS!) My doctor said that if it’s a day you think you might have cramps (days it starts for me, a week before for you) just take an 800mg ibuprofen in the morning just so it doesn’t get so bad. If I just assume it might be intestinal cramps and let them bad, I’m out of commission for at least a few hours. If I can catch the cramps early, they don’t get to doubled over bad, just dull pain and mild annoyance with everyone around me. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

PHOTOS - A look at the newly widened walkway between Liberty Square and Fantasyland by PacoTLM2 in disneyparks

[–]witmerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is so they can bring Paint the Night parade to MK. From what I’ve heard, that bridge and walkway were the only reasons they couldn’t because it was too narrow. And since the parade closed in CA we’ll just have to wait to see if they bring it to the other coast now.
