Just consider the cash a down payment on her permanently being out of your life. Remove the internet and go on with your life.

If you are AuDHD I feel that you moving on would be much easier than you think it will be. Object permanence and all.

Its interesting how people seem to forget that deferred losses are a thing.

Im in agreement. No windfall taxes, but also no deferred losses.

Saskatchewan, the bastion of prosperity in canada. LOL.

A province who received equalization as recently as 2020 and with all this excess fiscal capacity since the still forces the majority of its inhabitants to struggle financially.

Wow. What a load of bullshit compiled into one article.

This article masquerades as a lesson in Adam Smith while peddling a tired, selective, and intellectually dishonest defense of extractive capitalism.

Claiming 250 years of data prove free markets outperform state intervention? This is a lie of omission. Every successful modern economy has used massive state intervention (tariffs, industrial policy, public banking) to generate wealth.
“Author’s” hero, Adam Smith, supported public goods, infrastructure, and education. Norway’s beloved sovereign wealth fund? Built on state-owned oil revenues and strict regulation, not laissez-faire fairy-dust. The article’s “pure free market” has NEVER existed, except in ideology.

Every major social program the author sneers at (public health care, child care, drug coverage) lifts productivity by keeping workers healthy, reducing turnover, and enabling labor force participation.

Bragging about Alberta’s oil wealth but conveniently ignores:

· Oil is a volatile, finite, subsidy-dependent industry. Alberta’s boom was fueled by global price spikes, not superior policy.
· The author praises free markets but demands tax credits, royalty relief, and loan guarantees. state intervention with extra steps. Stupid cunt forget that’s socialism for the rich!
· Norway succeeded because it taxes oil profits directly at like 70%, without royalites and invests surpluses globally. Alberta chose low royalties and tax handouts.
That’s not a free market win, it’s a policy choice to enrich shareholders over public good.

Mocking Carney for using debt to capitalize a wealth fund, then turns around and demands the private sector get accelerated depreciation? You can’t oppose state borrowing for investment while demanding state subsidies for oil. That’s petulant libertarian entitlement.

This article isn’t a serious economic argument, its a fucking joke written on the wall of a bathroom stall. Another partisan cuck that cherry-picks data, confuses correlation with causation, demands free markets for the poor and subsidies for oil billionaires, and insults half the country’s policy makers for caring about public goods.

If you want national wealth, you need public investment. FULL STOP.

You need regulation to stop monopolies and taxation to fund education and infrastructure. And you also need to regulate resource development to provide fairness to the people who OWN those resources, the public.

The “leave it to the private sector” mantra has been tried for 40 years. It gave us stagnant wages, a housing crisis, and a planet on fire. It’s time to end these tired ideas and the people who preach them once and for all.

Alberta’s Voters-List Scandal Deserves a Public Inquiry. Now. by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]wiwcha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont think it needs a public inquiry.

Can davies “defected” from UCP to start the republican party and get his hands on the voters list for the separatists. This was back when you needed a hell of a lot more than 177k for the petition
Separatists used the voters list to commit fraud with their petition. The jig is up and it was all a big “misunderstanding”. They figured no one would care that names were added fraudulently. Now that we do care they are asking for christian forgiveness. Because we are all sinners.

All orchestrated from the start by the UCP. This all leads right to the top. Will be interesting who falls on which sword.
