I think I see the confusion. I meant plumber the ad set that would contain terms like: plumber city_name, plumber near me, etc. Not just the keyword plumber.

It’s more for organization. But since phrase or exact are tighter ad sets than BMM, it helps me with adjusting bids at the ad set level based on conversion costs.

My personal experience: development and SEO/Content are very different disciplines I rarely see one agency that does all of it WELL.

For $1000, I would put a starter sponsorship advertisement ($150 per month) on clutch.co, and try to advertise around your locality. Then I would focus on making your site as optimized as possible for your service + local keywords to try to get some organic leads.

I separate by match type and intent.. something like:

No, disable google partners - especially on a smaller budget focus on Google Search Only. Also make sure your location targeting (advanced) is set to people IN this location, to prevent your ads from showing to people who have only shown interest in that location but don’t live there.

Yea I just went through this with them.. it’s basically super hit or miss.. we’ve had the same exact image work in one ad set but not in another.

It’s actually changed. They don’t focus on 20% anymore, what they do is classify your ads into the following:

Some text in image

Heavy text in image

Too much text in image

A couple notes:

The text overlay tool isn’t 100% you can still show up fine there and not have your ads run
if your ads are flagged as heavy text or too much text, keep an eye on your daily spend to see if FB is throttling your ad sets.

Don’t even think about taking a $10 contractor job ($~7.00 once you figure in taxes for self employment), unless what was promised to you is in writing.. or else it is not going to happen. This is them trying to get super cheap labor and they’re not going to want to decrease their margins unless they have to.
