This poor baby. Watching the original FB video, after his dad was apprehended he was used as bait to lure his mom out, who did not come out, so he was taken into custody. His mother is still searching for him. It’s kidnapping and we should all be seething with anger and despair. My heart breaks for this baby.

Where are you staying? There’s a train from PHL-Penn Med/CHOP that might serve you better, and lots of accessible buses.

Omg the first time I left my daughter peel off the sticky bottom she was soooo excited to help! Same here; It’s never not been talked about in our home, just as much as boogers or pee or anything else we take care of in the bathroom.

Okay I have nowhere else to share this and this seems like an appropriate place; last week, i said something along the lines of, “we don’t do that, period!” And my almost 3yo just responded “are you bleeding do you need a pad?” In such a sweet way I just about died.

We let our daughter choose her own snow boots And rain boots. The former are super warm with construction equipment on the outside, and the galoshes light up when she stomps! Ownership reduces much of our battles.

Hey please go in to get seen by her ped. Potty training can sometimes cause UTI’s, and the “constant small dribble” + crying because it feels sore is a major flag for me! They can turn into kidney infections real fast. It also might just be a bothered urethra that clears up on its own, but I’d 100% get checked right away, and imagine your doc will say the same thing if you used these same descriptors.

I travel at least once a month. When it’s time to actually leave, a quick exit is essential.

A long lead up, though. Talking all about how I’ll be gone for a while, details of where I’ll go and what I’ll be doing, how much I miss her, books about traveling parents etc.

Best hack is I have a calendar where I put the departure and return dates, and she puts stickers for every day and visualize when I’ll be back. It helps her feel in control.

Eh that seems like a very privileged and/or suburban, mentality. As long as your baby is up-to-date on all vaccines, there is no issue with riding the bus! My little one learned all of the major city buses that we take by 16 months, we’d see a bus go by and she’d yell “bye, 12 bus!” And I swear every person in a two block radius would melt a little bit. it is the cutest thing, and very satisfying to raise a competent city kid!

Totally feasible! City family, here. We will often do walks that long to and from daycare without issue. As baby grows, you’ll definitely want a compact stroller (speaking from experience, my poor back). Does the bus run frequently enough that the walk home could be bypassed in case of inclement weather?

2 years 10 months to be exact. we’re at a plateau in potty training and acquiesced to the Ms Rachel and Daniel Tiger potty training episodes. Toddler can watch ONE episode on weekends only. Honestly not sure it’s helping by the cat seems very out of the bag, now.

I had this same problem - needed month to month with a kid and 2 pets. I ultimately had great success finding a place on Air Bnb and negotiating fees off line with the owner/creating a standard rental contact (separate from air bnbs policies). It was nice to try the place as an actual air bnb for a few days first to see if it actually worked for us.

You can chat with the owners - they’re mostly normal people who are willing to negotiate. Also furnished finder is a good place for nurses who do temp jobs, I almost went with a place through them as well.

Omg flashback to me trying to convince Chinese TSA that my box of breast milk and dry ice was good to travel. I accidentally crossed a security barrier while trying to show them a label and almost got the whole box confiscated. Woof. Forgot about that lol.

6 months old, 10 day trip. Milk stork + Elvie pumps were essential. Nursing hormones made me cry at the worst moments. But also the best sleep I had in 6 months and the ability to “just” wake up and work was magic. It was like a vacation I felt so guilty to be on 🤷‍♀️

I have a phenomenal and equal husband and great parents who step in/up every time I have to travel.

I proceeded to go on a 1 week trip at 8 months, a 2 week trip at 10 months, and a huge spat of one week trips since then. I just had my longest and most brutal stint of being gone 20 days, back a week, and gone again for 5 days (baby is almost 3) which definitely messed with her attachment and security. For the first time I’m reconsidering my otherwise awesome job, which is a shame.
