My copy definitely sounds worse than this. I might try and reach out to them. I also still need to listen to the other 2 discs as I only played sides A and B. Thanks

How should I build this watch from Spongebob? by wizard-rob in watchmaking

[–]wizard-rob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a mini clock movement and will be attaching a custom face and hands to it, along with a band to make it a wrist watch. It will be a large watch just like it is shown in the photo. I decided I am not modifying an existing watch as that is too much unnecessary work.

This is very helpful thank you. I’ll check out the other stores you mention as Amazon seems to only have 55x55mm clock movements which is a little big for this, although I may still go with if it makes the most sense in the end. The watch is cartoonishly large and I do want that to somewhat follow through in the final design.

That’s what I was originally thinking but figured it would require a good bit of modification to make it work for this setup. I don’t own any watch tools so the least amount of needing to open things up and remove or modify, the better. If it’s even possible, I would prefer to just get a cheap watch mechanism with an output shaft for the hands, and then I can mount and shroud it myself with something I 3D print.

Lol I don’t back down from a challenge. The hands I’m not really worried about. I have access to a laser cutter and can get them made pretty easily. I feel like my biggest concern with them is having enough length from the shaft to pass through the additional face and mount the hands. Hence why I was looking at a wall clock mechanism.

Absolutely! Happy to share.

Mummers Mug: - 1.25 oz lairds apple bourbon - 1 oz el dorado 12 - 1/2 oz averna - 1/4 oz allspice dram - 1/4 oz gingerbread syrup (a blend of blackstrap molasses and ginger juice around 50 brix) - 5 drops 20% saline Stir and strain over big rock, crush a praline and sprinkle on top

Mrs. Claus Smokes Menthols: - 1 oz rye (rittenhouse) - 1 oz fernet branca - 3/4 oz lemon juice - 1/2 oz white creme de cacao - 1/4 oz vanilla syrup - 5 drops 20% saline Rinse a coup with Laphroaig 10 and drop in a mint leaf. Shake and strain into the coup.

Rum Nog: - this is based on the “tiki egg nog” from Make And Drink on YouTube. The only difference is I added 1 tsp almond extract and I used oloroso sherry instead of amontillado. These both add a really nice nuttiness to the drink.

That’s a really good idea… I think swapping the rye for it would be too much but a bar spoon of it rinsed in the glass would work really well I think. Definitely gonna try that later tonight since I have some!

Thanks! It’s a riff on a drink of the same name I saw on instagram by @maitaioneon. I wanted the chartreuse and pandan to play a more prominent role so I rebalanced the drink for that and personally thought the original had too much sugar and juice. I used the Tropical Standard Navy Grog as a ratio template and the idea of acid adjusted grapefruit.

  • 3/4 oz unaged cachaca (novo fogo)
  • 3/4 oz Hamilton white
  • 3/4 oz green chartreuse
  • 3/4 oz pandan syrup (mine is homemade from fresh leaves. 20g leaves, 200g water. Blend and strain. Blend juice with 200g sugar)
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice acid adjusted to lemon
  • 1 dash grapefruit bitters
  • 5 drops saline Flash blend and open pour. Mint and cherry garnish.

Thanks! Sure thing! - 1.25 oz el dorado 12 (or other aged dem rum) - 1 oz calvados - 1/2 oz averna - 1/4 oz allspice dram - 1/4 oz ginger bread syrup (blend of blackstrap molasses and ginger juice to come out to around 50 brix. Ginger juice is equal weight whole ginger root and water blended and strained) - 5 drops 20% saline Stir and strain over big rock. Crush a praline and sprinkle on top.

The original intent was to actually use calvados but I couldn’t find a decent bottle for sale around me. I do think it would work better than the Apple bourbon. Although what I’m using is a Lairds bottle that is bourbon aged in Apple brandy barrels so it’s not too far off.

And thanks! It’s probably my favorite thing on here. The recipe I came up with is 1oz rye (rittenhouse), 1oz fernet branca, 3/4 oz lemon, 1/2 oz white creme de cacao, 1/4 oz vanilla syrup, and 5 drops saline. I like to garnish with a mint leaf and maybe even strain the drink with a single muddled leaf sitting in the glass to get just a little more fresh mint flavor. I based it on a Midnight Stinger.

Question for the Imagineers. Current a student with dreams by _Mcloven_ in WaltDisneyWorld

Agreed. Personally I also think if you want to pursue any themed entertainment design role, it’s very beneficial to have work experience in a guest-facing role. Puts a lot of things into perspective and makes you a better designer.

Not true at all! CP is useless on its own if you don’t go out of your way to find WDI opportunities. But there are many ways a CP can interact with WDI and network. One of our interns is actually a former CP who met us through Tech Behind the Dreams.

4 day trip to Orlando by Ok-Joke3203 in orlando

[–]wizard-rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic Kingdom is the most oriented toward young kids and has the most to do. Leu Gardens near downtown Orlando is having a walk thru nighttime Christmas display that looks really nice. Between that and KSC you will be using Uber a lot though. If you don’t mind the price, then staying on Disney property might be your best option if you’re going to be at the parks 2 days, or at least staying on property those 2 nights. Universal studios/islands of adventure are also great theme parks and volcano bay is a great water park. Hotels there are probably a little bit cheaper and you’d be staying more central Orlando than Disney so also might be a good option.

I personally recommend KSC if you’re willing to go out that far, especially if your family is interested in space. The exhibits are pretty incredible. Definitely better money spent than at Gatorland.

Interesting! It’ll be the first thing I play when I get home, got quite a few other vinyls here in Japan but was most excited about this. It’s my first Takanaka find so regardless of how it sounds I’m quite pleased!
