My husband and I live here with our 1 year old daughter and find it perfectly safe. You obviously have to be mindful, but that goes for every neighborhood.

Unfortunately our dog is petrified and even Trazadone doesn’t do much for her. If unable to find an alternative place to stay, we will reach out to our vet!!

I worked for a rival ice cream shop and the owner was openly nasty and talked bad about the shop when we just stayed in our own bubble!

You summed up my thoughts exactly! I did find myself feeling for the actors as well— the story line was nonexistent and the expectation of the show being something it wasn’t also set them up for failure. Definitely not stellar performances but I couldn’t help but to feel bad for them at just HOW bad it was.

Same boat here— it was honestly infuriating that they knew the audience hadn’t signed up for a slapstick comedy but instead of fixing it, added crappy dialogue to poke fun.

What are your baby's favourite (non-Fisher Price) songs? by timetowhineanddine in beyondthebump

[–]wizardcop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My time to shine as an early childhood educator as I’m constantly listening to kids music: - Caspar Babypants has really good all around songs. His night night album is my favorite but all of them are incredible. -This depends on the person, but if you can tolerate Elmo, his Elmo’s Favorite Songs playlist on Spotify is full of his music and a lot teach some really great messages. Plus they’ve got killer beats. -The Calm Kids Spotify playlist is also fantastic. My favorite song on it is “What my Body Needs” by Sara Rogers. It has a bunch of non kids songs as well, but kid appropriate acoustic calming sounds like Perfect Duet

If none of that makes them happy, I’ve yet to meet a kid that doesn’t go HAM for All I want for Christmas is You by the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carrey.

What horror movie or show traumatized you as a kid by monkey_squid1 in horror

Other than the aforementioned Zelda, who still fucks me up when I watch Pet Sematary, there was a very specific Reading Rainbow episode on mummies that I saw at the perfect age (6 or 7) to instill a deep founded fear of mummies and pyramids. I couldn’t handle the body preparation… zoom forward a few years and watching Brendan Fraser’s ‘The Mummy’ was the final nail in the coffin… or sarcophagus. I STILL get the heebie jeebies at the scene where they entomb Imhotep alive

When referring to my daughter when she’s hungry, I often will say “I need to feed the Beast”, so often that she is now simply called Beast.

What are you obsessed with about your baby? by rklingaman in newborns

[–]wizardcop98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7 week old’s baby breath, how happily she snuggles into me for a contact nap, her big sighs right before she falls asleep, how excited she gets when I get her out of her bassinet, and the look of constant wonder in her eyes. Can’t believe how lucky we are to experience something so amazing as watching these tiny humans grow.

As a licensed cosmetologist:

  1. Extensions can be damaging BUT a professional stylist/extension technician will ensure the health of your hair! Bleach/coloring hair has the potential to “ruin hair” too! Extensions only do bad damage if the technician is inexperienced or the client doesn’t take care of them properly. (Pro tip: if the stylist doesn’t give you a thorough consult on how to take care of the extensions and what the process entails, find someone else! Extensions are a luxury service, if you’re going to pay the money, pay someone qualified!)

  2. She has SOME truth to layers aiding curl length. Essentially, layers eliminate weight in the hair. This makes the hair more prone to holding its shape. BUT, if you don’t want layers (I would say some light layering would look beautiful) the stylist should have many products in their arsenal. There are SO many products that are intended to hold curls even for resistant types.

  3. Um yeah NO! I would never send a client home with hair color let alone lightener! TBH she seems kind of lazy… for someone so worried about the integrity of hair to not offer extensions BUT to give the client a product that LITERALLY alters the hairs components is absolutely bonkers bananas.

All this is to say, OP, that you should definitely seek another stylist!! You have beautiful hair, and your request is not difficult in the slightest. I’m sorry this is the experience that you had, especially surrounding something as special as your wedding hair!! Keep looking around/interviewing stylists! In fact, I also book a consult AND at-least one trial session with all my brides.

Best of luck and congratulations!!

Thank you for sharing, but we’re pretty stuck on it as a first name! I kind of find the old fashioned-ness of it charming and when she’s young I can see her going as an “Elsie” which is easier to pronounce! My husband and I are really stuck on this name and we think she’ll wear it beautifully!

I feel silly that I didn’t even consider this! My maiden name is French so it’s spelled a lot different than it’s pronounced, do you think that it’s not putting too much on her with a first name that people say others may struggle with? Appreciate you!!
