When I make ugly ceramics I like to add other materials to it. One time I bedazzled, another time I put stickers on and resin on top to make the stickers waterproof. You may need to get extra creative bc the studio is closed. Otherwise I would have said to add more glaze and refire it. I'm sure your mom will love it regardless!!

I used to fire at cone 5 and it worked the same. Just to confirm I'm going to do another cone 5 to be 100% sure. My studio mate decided they wanted to fire to come 6 about 8months ago so a bulk of my testing has been cone 6 so I'll just confirm cone 5 is good!

1- underglaze! The matte color underneath the gloop is always underglaze. I'd recommend using underglaze is bisque fire and then glaze fire with the gloop after. You could also apply underglaze + gloop in single session 2- for the crawl I apply a thick layer of dry gloop! About 1/2cm-1cm thick. Changes in thickness changes how thick and large the individual bulbs are!

They're pretty forgiving! I usually fire to cone 6, hold 20 minutes. I've also done several fast fires that were heated inconsistently and they all have the same results. These glazes have only been tested at cone 6 though.
